Then they don’t have to select one, or just select the main category.

Scratch can certainly be considered a social media.
Also, it’s because the explore page categories are cluttered with unrelated projects. Do you really want to go to the “Art” tab and see a poorly made platformer and random cookie clicker games that aren’t related in any way with art?
