This would be very USEFUL for someone who followed tons of topic (like me). Being able to reduce eye strain when viewing messages is a +1. Also able to scroll messages without pain seeing it all over again (the same thing). Maybe this should apply to galleries notification?

My idea is make the existing message move to the top if theres a same new notif. Then add the notification counter so you know how many times someone trigger it. like this mockup.

Support - this would make the Messages page easier to read.

This would be easier for the Scratch Team to implement as well which is another upside. And this would also slow down lag in the message tab. Support for these reasons and for the reasons others have mentioned above.

Pros:
  • It will reduce clutter.
  • It will slow down messages in order to make the site run faster (from my understanding).
Cons:
  • You won't know when there's another new post.
The reason why you get a message every time there's a new post is because some people would like to know every time there's a new post. Removing this will make it as if you only get 1 notification when there's a new post rather than one every time there's a new post.

If this is too confusing, please tell me and I will try to make it easier to understand. Please correct any mistakes as well.

So, what you mean here is stacking the notifications?
This could miss out a bunch of discussion, unless the timer refreshed, but then they'd still need to be a bit seperated…

Support honestly, I'd appreciate fusing said notifications.

Maybe consider this to be added to the OP?

You wouldn't and never will to think that this feature exists.

How about it still have a counter like
‘There are 6 new posts in the forum thread…’
