why???
Because, sometimes you may want a specific sprite without any scripts.
If you didn't want any scripts, just delete them. It won't be that much to delete.

There should be a toggle, “Include Template Code” at the top of the list. This could get annoying, the same way as “my variable”. But I support this, as beginners could learn from it.
how is my variable annoying? I don't find it so. in fact I always forget about it unless my project requires vars.

My variable? Is that some default variable? If so can't you just easily delete it lol

You can, but it would get annoying to delete blocks for all sprites you want.

This is a good idea, especially if comments are used to explain the sprite short code.
What's more, it's not really a nuisance for scratchers - most of the time, they import / design their own sprites -.

How do you know?

There should simply be a toggle in the sprite gallery - “Load Sample Scripts” which users can disable.

Didn't this used to exist in 2.0?

Yes, it existed before 3.0 as stated multiple times here

The thing about this is that this functionality already exists- kind of.

If you export a sprite (in 3.0), there is data there about the blocks in it- enough to load the blocks back into the editor. In fact, basically everything that would be in the part of the project.json file for that sprite is present there, in the sprite3.json file.

The only issue is that the ST didn't bother build a way to import the sprite back into the project, except for, presumably, the backpack. Of course, you can't import miscellaneous stuff into the backpack…

Also I just booted the 1.4 editor on my Raspberry Pi, and yes, this functionality is present there as well.
