Disney has been getting better about it, though. Non-members can buy clothes now, AND they can have some furniture, too.
But I honestly don't like the parties they're making. They last too long, they're usually licensed, and there's too many of them. Imagine the people who never played Club Penguin, and they join during Operation Blackout, and then they think:
“Man, this place is depressing.”

I played when there were about 2-4 parties per year and I didn't have to pay to play.

People on Club Penguin can be just as weird as some of the community on Roblox…. and Roblox is hated by some Minecrafters for the community.

The licensed parties all give huge amounts of cash to Disney now

I used to play it a lot, but as I grew older I played it less and less.
Every now and then I go back on.
Most of the time just checking out ClubPenguin warfare.
