Studio Host Messages
What if there is there was a thing on scratch like studios but more group-with-leader like. For example, people would click to join it and get messages from the group owner(s) about things that were going on with the group. It would be similar to studios except it would be the people who decided if they wanted to join and they could participate as they like. This would make things like contests, groups, or scratcher-specific studios turn into something much more interactive and useful. For example, for contests the owner could add the contest project to the group and then restrict other projects being added, even from members. Then people could hit the “join” button to join the group and receive updates about the contest from the host. (the owner of the group could send out messages to everyone part of the group).
Now that I think about it, it would probably be easier to add a settings tab to studios where the studio owner can change things like “members can add projects” or “anyone can join.” Then it would be awesome if they could send a message to everyone that was a member of that studio. It would greatly improve the way studios could work, in my opinion.
Anyways, I hope I didn't restate anyone else's idea, and I hope that some thought is put into this.
Thanks!
UPDATE:
This post is suggesting the following for a studio update

UPDATE:
This post is suggesting the following for a studio update
- Studios give an option to the host to send everyone who is a member a message (but with a 12 hour cooldown)
- Studios can also further restrict the projects that can be added by saying “only host can add projects”
- Studios giving an option to the host to turn on “anyone can join” so anyone who wants to join a studio can simply press “join” (so that people don't have to flood the studio with “can I join” messages)

This sounds like a very good idea! It would allow studios of the natures you described to be much less “hEy StOp AdDiNg RaNdOm PrOjEcTs” and more organized, as well as easier to work with and easier to get word about out. It would very strongly improve the share aspect of the site.

I know you've said alot, but mind to elaborate abit abit what else it could be used for?
Also this could just increase hategroups or Naming & Shaming Studios by quite abit.
I find the idea interesting all-in-all, but what use would this have for people who aren't doing contest stuff?
Fangroups? Not sure many would be fond of it, although perhaps for making large collaboration projects.
Also Studios can already restrict adding:

PS: It's in spanish since I'm trying to learn spanish

I know studios can already restrict adding, but they can't restrict adding from members, only from people who are not in the studio.
I see your point about the hate-group thing. I haven't experienced or seen anything like that, so I don't think I'm qualified enough to say anything about it. I think the “report studio” button should cover the hate studios from appearing since they can be reported.
I think that it could also be used for groups like “pixel art studio,” “advertise projects studio”, “cool intros studio”, you get the idea. Because a lot of these types of studios are spammed with “can I join” messages.

(#4)Yeah although they still take time to get moderated at times.

(#4)Fair point

Actaully sounds like a better alternative to private group chats exept it's not private and fits with the rules of scratch

I may have missed this in the original suggestion, but I didn't see an explicit mention of whether messages would only be available to group members or if there would be a public ledger of them somewhere. They would need to be publicly visible in order to avoid having a private messaging system, which is a rejected suggestion. Maybe the way it would work is that messages would show up either in the comments list or in the studio activity, but group members would also get a notification.

Support.
Both of your ideas are great (the groups idea and the group settings thingy idea). They would benefit the whole community.

Maybe if the owner comments in the comments section of the studio (not reply) then everyone that is a member of the studio gets a notification telling them what was said in the comment. It would need to have some sort of cooldown too though. Since you can send so many people a notification, it might be good to have a pretty high timer before using it again. That way people aren't spammed. It might need something like a 12 hour cooldown.

Is this like WhatsApp's only admin feature? If that, No Support.

Is this like WhatsApp's only admin feature? If that, No Support. No that's not what I meant. Anyone would still be able to comment and communicate, the only difference would be that the owner has an option to send everyone that is a part of the studio a notification (the same type of notification where someone comments on your project and you can see the comment in your messages). Now that I think about it, it would need to be separate from the comments just so that it is easier for people to understand.

Ok understood…but still 1 question. Would the managers be able to send it or only the host?

Up for debate I guess, but in my opinion it probably should be only the host.Is this like WhatsApp's only admin feature? If that, No Support. No that's not what I meant. Alright if the Host then Support! This method would be easier to send announcements in studios! (also notebook studios will be easier to run
