Block the right to left override character
The point of the right-to-left override (RLO) character is to display right-to-left reading texts and scripts, such as Arabic, Hebrew, etc…. However, it can be used (or abused) to do malicious things to other users. Using RLO to get around the bad word detector is probably the least of your concerns; the RLO character can be used to disguise malicious files by reversing part of the name (such as "new_lmth.bat“ displays as ”new_tab.html“, type: Windows Batch File). This is not really an issue on Scratch, but users can point people to download sites with such files. As for a ”special filter,“ this would be easy to implement, but blocking links to download sites seems to be much more important. Given that Scratch is targeted for users ”between the ages of 8 and 16," it seems unlikely that younger users would have great technical knowledge and a reason to suspect that new_tab.html can delete all your files.

uhh

I don't think that's a good idea. langs like hebrew, arabic, …. use RTL, because they are, indeed, written right to left.

(#19)how is hearing bad word?
No support - RTL is fun
If “hearing” was a bad word, I heared that “gniraeh” would be detected.
So <U+202E>gniraeh", looking like gniraeh
wouldn't trick the filter.

(#43)That's actually a good idea. Most people use reverse text to swear and people can't really notice or see how it doesn't get filtered.

Scratch already does this. It's sad though since now I can't tell people to say automodmute

(#58)actually there's a RTL-override at the beginning of the beginning of the title. that's why it's reversed, and that's also why the discuss scratch text is also reversed.(#54)
HOW(#55)Reverse text. That's how. Also, let's refrain from derailing the topic.

anyway, I stand by my opinion. yes, RTL-override would have prevented sweraing, but still, it would have also prevented hebrew, arabic, …

It still has uses in the filter, like right to left override was once use on a text who was bypassing the filter.
Maybe because of the engine it's a good way to censor those things.
