Two mouse cursors when running Linux?
Hey - when you linux using folks open the editor, and click something like the scissors, or the enlarge button, or the pen tool in the paint editor, do you then just see the tool, or do you see the tool and your normal mouse cursor at the same time?
I'm getting the latter, but my system may be in a weird state. You are supposed to only see the tool you've selected, until you deselect it.

This only happens to me on things with non-default-arrow cursors, e.g., text boxes (which display a text cursor).

Two mouse cursors when running Linux?
Thanks for the reports from Linux-land. As far as I can tell, this is a bug in the Linux Flash Player in Chrome, since the Actionscript code tells the cursor to hide but it doesn't. (And it works as intended in Firefox.)
Well, if we can't hide the hardware cursor on Linux, is it better to not use the software cursors? In that case, the cursor would always be an arrow on Linux systems, even if you had selected something like the stamp tool or the pencil in the paint editor. Or is it okay to have both cursors? The cursor shape does give you a reminder of what mode you're in, so it serves a useful function…

@johnm
Maybe you could detect the OS/browser and modify cursor state based on that.

Good suggestion.
It's already doing exactly that. That was essential because setting the hardware cursor caused Flash to crash hard in certain browsers on some Linux systems. The current code uses a software cursor on Linux and attempts to hide the hardware cursor. Unfortunately, hiding the hardware cursor does not work either – in those same problematic browsers.
I'm glad Flash doesn't have too many bugs like this that require work arounds.
