No support, this is completely unnecessary.

How, exactly? I'm not saying that I agree with this suggestion, but it's nice to be constructive :)

I see no value in this. The name is just fine as it is, makes sense, and, in fact, is quite similar to most other coding languages. No support.

in removed (removed) there is an option to add lists their seperate tab, but otherwise, there is no “Data” category coming soon as far as i know.
You aren’t allowed to mention extensions due to the policy.

Anyway, the suggestion was just to rename it though. That's different

Other coding languages like JS calls them variables, and Scratch is supposed to be stepping stone for those.

Support as lists don’t have their own tab and are with variables despite having their own block color and completely separate system to variables, they are in the variable tab

not really, lists are just many variables combined into one

Support. If lists aren't going to get their own section, might as well make it so the name actually makes sense to both types of blocks-

In scratch 2.0, the Variables category, was named data. I think this makes more sense as opposed to Variables, as lists are also there.
haha I wish lists had their own catagory.
the used to in scratch 2
Uhh what..

But not all variables are necessarily data.
Can you give an example of when a variable is not data?
set [Never gonna give you up, Never gonna let you down, Never gonna run around and desert you, Never gonna make you cry, Never gonna say goodbye, Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you v] to [1]
Actually, the var is 1.

The thing is that a variable in programming, a variable is a value that can change, depending on conditions or on information passed to the program. Typically, a program consists of instruction s that tell the computer what to do and data that the program uses when it is running. But variables and lists are in a same category and both data related so It might be a good idea to rename it data but at the same time it makes sense to keep the name.

Well with forbidden word, I can scroll over and see it.

Is it going to be optional? Then support because I could change to Data instead of Variables whenever I want.
If it is not, then no support at all since I like “Variables” instead of “Data” because it just makes sense to say “Make a Variable” instead of “Make a Data” That made no sense at all whatsoever.

Overall, Semi-support. (said above)

You’re misunderstanding the suggestion, in 2.0 the category said “Data”, but it still said “Make a Variable”.

Someone also mentioned “Variables” was too long in some languages.

Yeah data is more appropriate name for “data”.

No support, it's variables everywhere else, why does Scratch need to be different? Nothing's confusing about it
