To be honest the only reason I can think of as to why they would ban users from seeing their projects is to discourage bad behavior, and losing all of your projects is definitely a punishment you won't want to face any time soon.

but you don't lose your projects, there is no point in displaying the block page over every single request. what bad behaviour would there be?

Technically you lose access to them, so I suppose you are right

Anything you could get banned for I suppose…

Maybe only allow My Stuff projects to be downloaded if they weren't unshared by the ST or something like that, and don't let them access the projects unshared by the ST?
And the footer would look like this then?

If you cannot see this image, see this project.

I don't support that. If your project breaks the guidelines you can post elsewhere like itch, where it'll be allowed there. it's quite unfair to have projects that break the guidelines on scratch not be able to even follow the guidelines in places where they are allowed.

I'm not sure why the DMCA page would be necessary. Unless you're willing to go to court over a Scratch project, it's of very little use.

Support so someone can still use scratch even if they are banned without having to sign out or ban evade.

100% no support, being banned is supposed to be a punishment to keep you off the website. You should t need access to most of this

Oh, woe is me, I'm banned from a community I deserve to be banned from. Such torture! It feels like I leaked what happens in area 51 and the government found out /nm

Their point is that the purpose of bans are to prevent damage to the community. While bans might serve as a “punishment” for some people, it is not a good idea to inconvenience banned users for no reason other than to inconvenience them. I agree that GlitchInTheMatrix's use of the word “torture” was misleading, but the point still stands that “no support because you get banned when you do something wrong and if you can't do X or Y it will teach them that they did somethign wrong” is not a good argument

The point of bans are to prevent people from interacting with the community, not to prevent people from reading about scratch's copyright policies.

I get that, but like, the project editor? My stuff? Seriously?

They already can’t interact with the community, erasing hours of hard work too accomplishes nothing.

If they're banned and did something bad enough to not be able to appeal, they deserve it

Seriously? I never said it should teach them anything. I just said if they did something bad enough to get banned they deserve to be exiled from the website.

Not exactly. Bans exist to keep the community safe from bad people or to force them to reread the rules before reentering the community, not to punish users because they “deserve it”. After all, people get banned for breaking the community guidelines, not the about page guidelines. Bans serve their purpose just preventing users from accessing the community if they show that they can't interact with the rest of the site well, it's unnecessary to prevent them from accessing other parts of the site too. That's why banned users are not only allowed, but encouraged to continue using the site while signed out.

If disciplining people isn't teaching them something, then what's the point? It seems like you think bans are just a shallow way for the moderators to get revenge on rule breakers, which it's not. Bans already serve their purpose preventing users from interacting with the community, there's no need to go further than that. This brings me back to the original post I quoted.

No project editor, they could make something innapropriate and share it when unbanned, unless they are perma-banned
