setup script, you'll have to have minecraft downloaded before you can actually work on mcts. not sure how i want to distribute pre-built stuff though. probably just a zip with built source and telling people not to steal assets or something

first of all, what are you gonna do with the .jar? use the textures, cause i dont think your gonna turn that java code into typescript.
probably just use the resources (because i think the actual code is all original typescript)

i´m pretty sure that as it´s opensource, it could be very easily fixed
Yeah, i thought it is the TS version of the launcher.

you can't distribute minecraft's assets to users without a license

you “can't” actually. literally no authorization required to download the minecraft jar (i know, broken)!!

either way i won't be distributing assets

why the edits?

Could we potentially use non-minecraft assets? Like another texture pack?
as the core resource pack? yes, assuming it implements every minecraft asset. due to mcts being compatible with java edition you will also be able to load any java edition resource pack from the relevant menu and have it just work:tm:
I agree, but you could also use no texture pack and just have player's packs or those no-texture blocks that i won't complain.

no, to play on java servers you need a copy of minecraft java edition, and to play on mcts servers you also need a copy of minecraft java edition. minecraftts is going to be using the minecraft java edition multiplayer protocol. (its meant to be 1:1 with java edition)

also to answer your other question, no distributing of minecraft's assets. i'll still be open sourcing minecraft ts soon:tm:
dang it really thought i could switch to it. but because its java acc required, that means its basically half of it is open source. dang it, im not gonna waste any time modding but ok.
So it's agressively open sourced, also i said, yes.

as i said, its basically gonna be paid to play. not that much. but to join servers, yes.

This is why I will code my own MC with it's own Multiplayer System. Not using this random client that no one knows about.

Maybe the MCTS could make it's own login servers and that stuff.

If it's ‘Minecraft: Typescript Edition,’ wouldn't it be MinecraftTSE?

isn´t it possible to replicate java multiplayer protocol with typescript code? unless it´s like dat in order to not be DMCA´d (because unlike the TS code and non-mojang texture packs, the multiplayer protocol may be still copyrighted even if the communication scripts are in TS /*the whole idea of copyrighting a protocol is stupid but here we are in the world of DMCA*/), but at least then someone capable of TS coding could design their own protocol and make f r e e m i n e c r a f t servers

TS code written by you (not mojang devs)+resource packs (not OG textures copyrighed by mojang)+not minecraft font (much sad but I think that´s copyrighted too) = free mince raf with no sue no DMCA no cease and desist?????

yes! that is what i am doing. you will still need an account however to play on non-cracked minecraft servers due to mojang authentication

IIRC you can only play certain servers that have “online-mode” set to “false” (meaning cracked accounts can join the server as well). You can't play on servers that have “online-mode” set to “true” (meaning only premium accounts can join) like Hypixel.

i think yes because this might work, however most of things might need to use the npm: on imports, however half of it might work.
