shadowbanning
(excess characters removed by moderator - please don't spam)
moderators should have the ability to shadowban people. i kinda stole this from the clock app but it's a bit different but idk since i don't use that app
basically what it would to is you'd still have access to your scratch account, but your profile comments would be locked, all current and future projects, would be NFE'd, your projects removed from studios, and all comments on your profile (NOT projects) would be hidden until you would be un-shadowbanned.
you would not get a notification that you are shadowbanned. this ban would be used in place of short bans (7 days and below), and permanent shadow bans would only be used for minor offences done repeatedly (for example, being alerted multiple times for saying minor profanities that are still not allowed on scratch).

this is a joke)Please do not create joke topics unless it's April Fools Day. (st please don't ban me i beg you
Shadowbanning, IMO, is a lesser equivalent to what Stalin and H*tler did when people disagreed with them. They killed them and then covered it up. All bans should be disclosed to the account owner.

Not telling them is a issue as they wouldn’t know what they have done wrong so they would continue to do it. I think the stricter option of short temp bans are better as it would teach them more what they did wrong (by telling them and giving out a bigger punishment so they wouldn’t do that again)

Would the persons projects get automatically added back to the studios once they were un-shadowbanned?

This wouldn't teach anyone. They would just think it's OK, not knowing that they were punished, and keep doing it.

anyways no support because shadowbanning would just cause frustration between ST and regular users

if you were shadowbanned it would be obvious
like why would all your profile comments be deleted all of a sudden? why aren’t you getting any more views?

yes but here are the problems if you were shadowbanned it would be obvious

one shadowbanning is not obvious right off the bat, i for one do not care about my project's views, i do not care about if my projects appear on search. why would you profile comments need to be deleted? what does that solve? i've been warned 20 times and banned like 3 times (long history on this site), deleting all of my profile comments would solve nothing
two, isn't shadowbanning supposed to be not obvious? like, you say it won't give you a notification but you say that its “easy to tell if you're shadowbanned”.
once again I don't see the point, i'd rather the scratch team just delete a comment and say “hey dont say that cuz it violates blank” than having all my comments get deleted and being nfe'd

are you seriously comparing getitng banned on an online forum to dictators who murdered millions of people?
also, you can say hitler.

Because it's a hacky way to do bans for normal users.
For spammers or marketers who are pasting blatant advertisements, it works because they never intended to engage truthfully with the website in the first place. If you use it on normal users, it comes off as dishonest and can lead a person to believe that the website is broken while they post into the void. A normal block or IP block already does the job well enough.

Yes, I know but those two guys did was way worse, but still, there are a few similarities.
Someone gets shadowbanned they don't learn anything from it, they don't know what they did was wrong, and it's a bad form of censorship.

No support. This has more restrictions than the normal ban, so it would be that people would try to do even more bad things to get banned for longer if they knew they are going to get a short ban. Long bans would become a blessing over short bans. Pretty bad.
