No offense, but your a former ST member obviously they care about your reports.
They care about everyone's reports. I am no different. There's no reason why the Scratch Team would want to prioritize reports made by a specific Scratcher.

Note also that some of the posts alluded to in the OP have now been removed. Looks like the Scratch Team does listen after all.

Support. Can cause a lot less clutter and can help new forumers not spam by making sure they don't. But isn't there already a report button on all posts? So that is one thing to do.

Scratch Team members are not online every moment of the day. You will have to be patient.

Doesn't the Scratch Team already do this? Just report a post and say it's off-topic. The Scratch Team will understand and take action.

You need to learn how to not be condescending. In every single forum you're in, the posts you make act like because you said something, it's law.

We aren't saying ‘Have ST auto-remove every useless junk comment’. We just want them to treat ‘junkposts’ like they treat inappropriate content.

I wouldn't care because the Scratch Team would deal with it. What I would not do is get so upset that I'd make a whole topic to get the Scratch Team to do something they're already doing.
Oi, we aren't getting UPSET. It's just annoying to have to deal with spam, junk, and jokes throughout an entire topic.

With the way the housing market is these days, you're really generous allowing me to live in your head without paying a dime.

Dude. If you were exaggerating(you were, weren't you), that was sorta condescending and pretty useless. We aren't trying to make the forums boring or keep people from having fun, we just don't want people spamming annoying and useless posts. What if you made a topic, and the same person kept posting ‘I like tacos om nom nom’ over and over?
Then you report the op and say it needs to be cleaned up for spam.or report the individual post once.

I like joke topics and posts, but it’s not funny or fun when someone says “add this as a character!!” A bunch of times when people already told them to stop and that it isn’t funny.

I feel like it's better to report a couple of the spam posts instead so the Scratch Team knows where to look.

Semi-support.

As the unofficial joke expert, I feel a joke is allowed if it is the following:
  • Is related to the discussion
  • Doesn't derail the topic through any means
  • Isn't disrespectful or making fun of anybody.
  • Isn't spreading false information without making sure people know that that particular information is not true.
  • Is constructive(to the amount it needs to be. It's a joke, of course it isn't going to be that constructive).
  • (optional) is tied to an actual constructive post.
Of course, unconstructive joke posts shouldn't be allowed. Neither should obvious joke suggestions outside of april fools. But I have mixed feelings about this.

We should be allowed to make people laugh, but how do we define the rules so that we don't have too many joke posts?

Don't these posts already contribute as unnecessary spam?

I don't think brief “joke posts” really deserve to have consequences to come with them, and if it's repetitive, it would likely be a report-able offense anyway.

In my personal opinion, joke posts should only be allowed if they are tied in with an actual constructive post. The forums are a bit different from the rest of the website, in the sense that people mainly use the forums to obtain constructive feedback and get help with Scratch. Answering a question solely with a joke, for example, is not helpful. In many cases I feel like even a constructive post with a joke image is not helpful, since the large image often takes away from the rest of the post and just clutters up the thread.

Actually, thinking about it, this is very similar to the policy on “blockspam.” According to the Scratch Team, “blockspam” is allowed if it contains constructive messages à la stylistic choices. For example, a post in Questions about Scratch containing the following blocks is okay:

when green flag clicked
if <question answered?> then
say [Thanks for helping me!] for (2) secs
end

To this extent, as far as I'm aware, asking a question or giving a suggestion in entirely Scratchblocks is not “blockspam” — it is allowed as it is a text formatting choice. However, most would agree that you should just use normal text when writing out a suggestion.

Tying it all together: with this analogy, I am relating joke posts to the use of Scratchblocks as a text style choice. If a joke is a minor part of a post, then it's fine. Technically it might be okay if it takes up the majority or all of the post, but in that case it just makes the post/thread more difficult to read.

To all of you who think this is useless, im a little angry but just look at what this has done. You know CT, a scratcher who helped Koamodo put up this forum? Her own topic died because of these posts. An ST member closed it. https://scratch.mit.edu/discuss/topic/683232/?page=19 . She is too angry too post anything now so im posting for her. She is litterally crying in her room right now because her suggestion got pushed down the drain and she put so much effort into it. An it isn’t the ST member’s fault, it’s the joke people’s. Not only that, but look at my latest project: that tails thing has struck again. I might be 4 years younger than her but I know this isn’t right. A totally non joke mockup (not sarcastic) is coming out soon; CT will post it when she’s ready. YOU HAVE KILLED A PERFECTLY GOOD SUGGESTION AND NOBODY CARES.

Huh? We already allow this, and our Community Guidelines already state to be constructive when posting. It's sounds more like you guys aren't reporting quick enough or failing to report at all - and mods are not going to know what's going on unless you report it. Closing thread since the suggestion has already been in place since Scratch's beginning.
