Allow Reporting of Useless Posts In Forums - BIG ISSUE!
Hey people! One problem in Scratch, particularly the Forums, are joke/useless posts. In an earlier topic about adding a green scratch mascot, people kept posting joke “mockups” and derailing the topic. One Scratcher continued with the jokes even when asked multiple times to stop. This clutters topics and is, quite frankly, annoying. What I (and a crew of other Scratchers) propose is the the allowing of reporting useless/annoying joke forum and comment posts, keeping the clutter and spam to a minimum. This is becoming a big issue on a lot of topics, so support would be appreciated!

Would you like me to advertise this on “ADVERTISE HERE” projects and studios only? That would get it noticed, and I'm pretty sure it's allowed. Hey people! I'm pretty sure you can already report posts that are purely jokes or otherwise intended to derail the thread.

Actually, here's what happens: the ST looks at just that post, finds nothing inappropriate, the thread derails. I'm pretty sure you can already report posts that are purely jokes or otherwise intended to derail the thread.

And then, eventually, ST might ban you for reporting ‘without reason’. One less person to keep topics from derailing into a bottomless pit.Actually, here's what happens: the ST looks at just that post, finds nothing inappropriate, the thread derails. I'm not really sure where you're getting this information. If you Actually, here's what happens: the ST looks at just that post, finds nothing inappropriate, the thread derails. explain why the post is off-topic when reporting it, then the Scratch Team will understand.
I believe this rarely happens in the forums, unless you're actually reporting posts without giving any reasons. And then, eventually, ST might ban you for reporting ‘without reason’. One less person to keep topics from derailing into a bottomless pit.

1: then how come many scratchers have tried, IRL waited a long time, and the posts didn't disappear? 2: If there are a lot of jokes and you need to report all of them, the ST will indeed consider that mass reporting and ban you.I'm not really sure where you're getting this information. I've reported off-topic posts before(giving a reason:'repeatedly posting off-topic', etc.), and guess what? No removing. This topic is so that ST will actually begin to remove off-topic, useless, and troll-ish joke posts. If you were participating in the same topic that me and CT-OfficialScratcher were for a while now, you'd probably be pretty irked too.I'm not really sure where you're getting this information. How long is “a long time”? It can take a while depending on the time of day and the moderator on duty. I can with confidence say that 6 hours should not be considered a long time, for example. 1: then how come many scratchers have tried, IRL waited a long time, and the posts didn't disappear?
Don't send 100 reports, of course. Just report a few of them, then. You can explain that there are more useless jokes in the thread than just the few you reported. 2: If there are a lot of jokes and you need to report all of them, the ST will indeed consider that mass reporting and ban you.
I report off-topic, useless, and troll-ish joke posts all the time, and they usually get removed. So the Scratch Team has already “started.” I've reported off-topic posts before(giving a reason:'repeatedly posting off-topic', etc.), and guess what? No removing. How dare forumers do something so daring as having fun. Hoards of these uncivilized barbarians from outside of the forums are threatening the perfect, enlightened ways of us forumers. If someone is going to dedicate any amount of their time here on these internet forums, they have to do it the right way. Foruming should be boring, it should be formal, and utmost of all, it should be constructive. If any semblance of joy is found ruining these perfect forums, it must be destroyed. Anyone that dares to break from the perfect rules of the forums should be exiled from our perfect forums.

If you were exaggerating(you were, weren't you), that was sorta condescending and pretty useless. We aren't trying to make the forums boring or keep people from having fun, we just don't want people spamming annoying and useless posts. What if you made a topic, and the same person kept posting ‘I like tacos How dare forumers do something so daring as having fun. I wouldn't care because the Scratch Team would deal with it. What I would not do is get so upset that I'd make a whole topic to get the Scratch Team to do something they're already doing. What if you made a topic, and the same person kept posting ‘I like tacosom nom nom’ over and over?
