add a pixel art feature to the scratch canvas

Hi there! I think it would be a cool feature if the Scratch sprite/background painter had a pixel art function. Let me know what you think! -astro

There's a blue button at the bottom left of the paint editor, called Convert to Bitmap. If you zoom in, it's the same thing.

Anyway, I don't feel that this would be a very useful way to spend scratch's money. Pixel art is a pretty minor art style on scratch. It's also very easy for people who choose to use this art style to use third party resources, or use bitmap. If you want to make pixel art from scratch directly, just convert to bitmap, set the pen size to 1, zoom in really small, and draw. Once you're done, you can resize and move it to where you want.

I would say add larger pixel sizes like allow me to make 64x64 pixel art or 32x32

Good point, but you could also argue that the fact that I mentioned to blue button would add to the conversation. Just saying “bitmap” isn't that helpful.

So I’ll assume you are talking about a pixel art editor like ASeprite. Well, we have that. Bitmap. I know, it does not have all the fancy features, but it’s easy to make pixel art with it. And, like mentioned before, pixel art is not a very common art style for Scratchers to make art in it themselves. And, you can just zoom in, set pen size to 1, make a rectangle with the size in the canvas you want to draw in, restrict yourself to draw in that rectangle, and once you’re done just use the fill tool with the transparent color to erase the rectangle. Nice and simple.
