Does anyone know a good size for the studio thumbnail without it being squished or anything like that in pixels?

You can just search for images on the internet that are 512x512 pixels or less, that's what I always do.

Not really, as it won't retain its dimensions when Scratch resizes it to fit the thumbnail panel. The panel is 170x100, so you should get an image as close to that ratio as possible so it won't get stretched or squashed. Sizes like 340x200 or 425x250 should work.
