Now I know what you're thinking. These types of drinks might be for younger children, but remember, nobody is too old for anything! These would be cool for people who both love scratch and surprises, so I'd say it's a good idea. The flavours would be:

• Giga - Apple
  

• Pico - Orange
  

• Gobo - Lemonade
  

• Tera - Blueberry
  

• Nano - Soda
  

I don't know if this will get released, but anyways, scratch on!

EDIT: The ST may need another company to make the surprise drinks for them, so they aren't on their own.

EDIT 2: Also, they may do it with ScratchJr instead. There might be 8250000 copies, which would be $250,000 to produce, but not per surprise drink because that would be ridiculous. It sounds like a lot of money, but hey, I'm sure Scratch has raised over $15,000,000 at this point, so it might not be a big deal. If they want to save money, they might need to lower the amount of copies available.

EDIT 3: The toy capsule thingy would have a warning saying that the toy isn't food so that younger people don't eat it.

In all seriousness, this could help fundraising for Scratch, and shouldn’t cost too much, and it’s relatively cheap to make drinks. For example, 3 cents per 12 fluid ounces of soda, IIRC. And the bottles could also be heavily based off the mascots themselves. Maybe they can also include the octopus as a random drink(i mean, its always destroying the servers)

While this could help with fundraising and promotion, what do drinks have to do with coding? And if the drinks don't sell well? Does anyone at the scratch team even know how to make these drinks?

if it were that easy to make money, the market would be flooded with drinks already - coke has mass infrastructure like shipping, bottling, production already in place. It's also a huge risk, because those drinks might not even sell. The risk is just too high for the marginal income. no support

Thats 330 for ten dollars.
If they cannot get the ST to try them and produce them for less than $50, then they need a new method.

I don't get it. I like drinking blueberry lemonade in the summer. If you're referring to the fact that the OP uses the word “drink,” what other word would you use?

Unlike other “merchandise” items which can be ordered online with no problems and also look like they've been made on a custom clothes and sticker websites, with the only other items being related to coding/Scratch (the book title looks like it's related to creativity, and Scrtach is a platform for expressing that), this seems a lot more complex and I don't think is pratical. Scratch's primary aim is to offer a coding platform for kids where the can “imagine, program and share”, not to sell products unrelated to this, like drinks.

A drink needs to be made in factories, which cost a lot of money, and a factory needs workers (even if a lot is automated), which cost money in wages. It has way too many expenditures that I don't see a lot of people buying (I don't see people buying these drinks at all - if its online than children probably won't have money stored online, and if it is retail than Scratch isn't global enough for that) thus I don't think it will make a profit, so I don't think it is something the Scratch Team should invest in.

For making the drinks, the Scratch Team could probably out-source it.
For the person who'd say “this has nothing to do with coding”, that's perfectly true, but this is just another way to earn money that would be used for the website.

Make nano “cola” instead of just soda and I support, you can’t just have “Soda” and not say what flavor. Anyways yes would be a good to earn money but on the other hand not everyone will buy it.

also changing Giga to fruit punch would be better

Not only is blueberry not very strong in pigment making it not a very good flavor for a drink, this will also cost a ton of money, for a drink that will have very little wide appeal

I doubt even a little kid would want a “surprise drink” themed around characters they likely aren't familiar with.

…and all of this isn't even mentioning the logistical problems with a randomized drink, would they have to include the nutrition facts for each individual flavor on the bottle? How would consumers even know what flavor they got? What if there was a recall for an ingredient only used in one flavor?
