Hey, just a bit of advice here. To get people to actually red the OP just change the title to have (Read Original Post) or (Read OP) to make people more likely to actually read it. Hope this helps. Anyways I guess this could be kinda cool. It does seem pretty niche and Scratch would probably have to ask if you wanted to allow changes to your cursor.

This topic needs some reviving.

BUMP
So basically, perhaps if Scratch Devs used a restriction to mouse pointers. Like if there were a minimum aspect ratio for it, and to give the user a notification on screen that the project uses a custom mouse pointer.

Also, maybe restricting New Scratchers to only using built-in CSS mouse-pointers, or just some of them I dont want users to be overwhelmed by it.

And Scratchers (people with that status) can use custom cursors.

But really, why though?

Personally, I think that as a programming language built for children, I'd love to see kids experimenting with custom cursors. I am really excited to see what the community can make with custom cursors! Scratch Team. I really hope you see this and experiment with this (we dont talk about Scratch Lab, it got slightly more active though) Perhaps you should REALLY try out the feature in Scratch Lab. I just can't wait for this to be in the website. And I think all the wonderful creators on the site would agree!

The Scratch Team doesn't want to do that because then the cursor could be hidden, and that may confuse some people. (that's what I think they said)

Also this topic is suggesting CSS cursors, not custom image cursors.

ONLY CSS cursors. For everyone, including regular Scratchers.

Support.
This will be a nice touch to projects that utilize this if it's added.
Like for example, changing the cursor to pointer when hovering over a button.
Or changing the cursor to move or grab when hovering over a movable sprite.

They stated that replacing cursors are not rejected, and I talked about having restrictions for “blank cursors” such as a minimum aspect ratio and a minimum ghost effect block. I'd say this is a good idea, especially custom mouse pointers, but I would think it'd be fine to just use CSS cursors as a starting point. I could fork the source code and make an extension myself containing custom cursors, but Scratch Team probably has different ideas as for what should happen.

I thing such way would be as having a “sprite” in the backdrops category for a mouse pointer.

*you can snip this part here*
If I make the extension, ill give a turbowarp link sometime and let you experiment with it.

Scratch will also have to detect vector graphics with invisible objects if the Scratch Team wants to close all possibilities of blank cursors, and there are most likely more possibilities that could be exploited for blank cursors as well.

No need, it can be done in TurboWarp with a workaround.

Let's stop talking about this before an entire page with stuff about custom image cursors. (if you want, maybe make a suggestion with some of the text of your original post. )

This isn't actually rejected, as far as I know, only hiding the cursor is rejected, and you won't be able to hide the cursor using this.

No, the original poster mentioned that it wasn’t and that TOLORS links to this topic, stating that it is not rejected.

Bringing this topic up because there is a similar topic (in HwS).

I would also like it if it could do custom costumes so that you could have a reticle or reticles that would be there instead of the mouse

Though the problem with that is someone could use a blank costume or something very difficult to see, which can be used to hide the mouse pointer.
