bro that goes to three houses i don't care about that game looks too far fetched :skull:
i really like three houses>
engage just has no compelling characters or story after three hosues did that really well
engage does some stuff way better than three houses but the overall experience is way worse>
also way less grounded

every character can be summed up as “male who likes to train and is obsessive” or “female who has ludicrous proportions who likes to train and is obsessive”
the story is incredibly basic, which would be fine if the gameplay and character interactions were as engaging as the kaga games, but they aren't>
it feels like everything i didn't like about awakening, made worse, with nothing i liked about it>
but
the combat is pretty great>
the graphics are also surprsingly good
but man
just play geneaology>
or literally any other fire emblem game than engage

We could be exact opposites, since I really love fire emblem awakening, the story of past and future is quite interesting too, (spoliers) how our main character is somewhat possessed by a dragon, the one who saved us daughter, Lucina basically having to suffer.
Also I liked feh before it wasn't cool anymore, they seem to be the og of geshin impact-
Until downfall :skull:

awakening was the fourth game i played
i played fe1, 3, and three houses first
fe1 had an undeniable charm and worked well with the hardware limitations, and some of the characters were really cool
the combat worked well to make you attached to the individual characters despite not having much dialogue
fe3 is a remake that is a lot less grindy us a whole other extra game, and it was really fun, but oddly the first one is more charming>
three houses is one of my favorite games ever and the way it handles characterization is incredible, it's basically the best parts of every koei tecmo game with a lot of what i already loved about fire emblem>
then i played awakening
and man
i wasn't feeling it
some story beats were cool the humor was relatively good, i thought there were a few decent support chains, especially with the kids, but
it really fell flat in a few areas
first off, the gameplay is pathetic
it's the easiest fire emblem without a doubt
it's mindless>
chrom and robin are so ludicrously powerful that the only way for the game to be hard is if you choose not to use them or on one of the three maps where you actually have to use legitimate strategy instead of just pairing up chrom and robin and literally soloing the map>
and if you're like me and you married chrom
you then get lucina, who at that point becomes the two strongest characters in teh game put together, and then you literally win the game
i was told the game was about 35 hours
i beat it in about fourteen, taking my time with the story and doing as many paralogues as i could
then, i recruited every other character, and i was still only twenty hours in
and then i stopped
cause it wasn't fun>
and supports are a grind>
and the models are really dumb looking
and like
there were some really solid beats of the story, the cutscenes were great, and i guess i really liked basilio
but like
i could be playing echoes
which is way more fun and the characters are way better>
or three houses
which is way, way more fun, and almost every character is actually developed and utilized, as opposed to maybe eight total interesting characters like in awakening>
then we pop in engage
where you have like
two characters who are almost okay
but at least the gameplay is extremely good
and yeah fe heroes is basically just a game for pubescent teens and actual criminals>
but i do think that different people have different tastes
i like the kaga games because of the huge scale and very challenging strategy gameplay, and i love three houses mostly because of the absolutely perfected support system and the subtleties in both the main storylines and side stories
i do think that engage's gameplay is possibly better than three houses', and certainly way better than awakening's, but it just doesn't have a good story to hold it together at all>
even the first fire emblem had some sort of stakes and characters i sort of cared about, and that was an nes game
engage is just uninteresting
where three houses told a grounded bu unconventional story and used its well defined world and concepts to its advanage, engage does the bare minimum to be an rpg story>
and then there's awakening, which has some great parts but it's utterly bogged down by the complete lack of strategy in a strategy game>
and i've played a lot of fire emblem>

There's seventeen mainline Fire Emblem games, and in my experience very few like all seventeen of them. Personally my favourite Fire Emblem is Genealogy of the Holy War, with the other SNES games close behind. In general I prefer pre-Awakening, but if you like the newer games, then have fun.
These days I like making my own FE games (in other engines), putting Marth and Sigurd in ever-more ridiculous situations.

Do you miss feh in the earlier states? When we pure grind our favorite heroes and costumes? Here we are grinding for the most recent or most powerful hero- for now strategy is replaced by grinding-
It's still a good mobile game ngl.

2017 Heroes and 2023 Heroes are like night and day. I still play, but I don't really care about the meta. My favourites do what they can, and if they can't do it, I don't bother.

I'm sorry- Error 404

And wolf fallen!robin.

The fallens were actually good concepts and even more lore to their respective games, why. What fallen hero will get the treatment next? Celina?

I'll list the games so it will be easier to tell what I'm talking about:

  • heroes:
Despite tactics, that feels more wholesome tbf, I wished this got more attention than geshin or cookie run lol.

  • engage:
Also why does Fire emblem engage have an expansion pass, Hello, Wave 4? Are you telling me this is Fire emblem heroes ported on the switch- Then you have fire emblem heroes. Free update, Free book. The story and relationships with the old and new cast is fine, I just don;t want to be spending Actual money rather than orbs bro.

  • 3 houses:
Love that the 3 nations heroes still got together in the end lol-

three houses is probably my favorite fire emblem but
i've played
almost all of them>
and the only good new ones
are three houses and echoes>
awakening sucks
fates is a disgrace>
engage actually makes me want to cry
heroes is the most gacha gacha game ever
even more than actual gacha>
new mystery makes one of my favorite tactical rpgs into a bad game somehow
shadow dragon is awful
and the original nes game is actually awesome>
and for some reason nintendo took down the original nes game from the eshop
new fire emblem seemed like it was finally getting goo again in 2017 to 2019
but then
it just
forgot how to be good>
man
it's so depressing
echoes is amazing
if you like awakening, don't play echoes
because if you play echoes you won't like awakening anymore

What if I still like them both after I've played it, lol-

Also Juniper, you never mentioned Warriors. Based on what I can tell, the main storyline is basically engage but you get to actually play as a fe character but there are only three games it covers, The first one, Awakening and Fates, and it acts like geshin. That's without Dlc, dlc just adds new characters.
You will cry, I can tell…

The thing that is really best about fire emblem is that all the games are different. You can go into each game and expect a different experience from the last one. It's just a fun series with how much variety there is
