As long as the big companies don't sue you, it's fine. After all, I host ads that were probably copyrighted in my Scratchy Tape projects and I haven't been sued.

I mean… You maybe could, but I wouldn't suggest you do that.

Also how can you import a movie (which is probably at least an hour and 10 minutes) into Scratch?

Let's assume the movie is 30 minutes (Which it would be way more, since it's a movie), and the movie is running at 30 fps.
You convert 30 minutes into seconds, which is 1,800 seconds.
And 30 fps x 1,800 seconds = 54,000 backdrops or costumes!!! How would it be possible to import something like that into Scratch!?

You split it up into parts.

Like others said, I'm not sure if you could upload a full movie practically, it would take A LOT of frames and data into the project which Scratch probably couldn't handle. Even then, if you did manage to do this, it would be a pain to watch an entire movie out of a scratch project (in my opinion). And it would also be difficult to download it from the project, since Scratch doesn't have any tools for video files.

Most techniques run the video at a lower framerate or at a lower resolution. In reality, it's likely that the amount of frames would be much lower.
This isn't 30 minutes but it's a good example of what I'm talking about.

I don't think pirating movies would be a good idea. The st bans music sharing projects because the music(which is made by someone else) is the sole focus of the project, and it doesn't fuel creativity. The same logic applies here. You didn't make the movie, and just having a project play it and do nothing else wouldn't fuel creativity.

How are you gonna have a decent quality movie be uploaded to here, let alone be able to upload it at all lol.

I couldn't even watch the project in TurboWarp.

Scratch or not, it isn't recommended at all to pirate movies.
Also importing movies would be a huge task to do in Scratch, and I though importing gifs was hard.

I don’t think that’s a good idea to just to upload a whole movie to scratch as a big company (Like Disney) might sue scratch/you for copyright reasons, possibly even you say it belongs to Disney in the notes. Realistically, You probably wouldn’t be able to upload it to scratch anyways because the video/gif would be too big to add.

Pirating movies is like a huge crime because you could get a fine of more than 200,000 dollars or get prisoned for 5 years. That's what the government things said. However on scratch if you share a movie on scratch it might just be a copyright alert. (I could be wrong it may be worse.) Also movies ported to scratch is going to crash the project since it has a lot of frames.

I hope this is hypothetical, but as some others have said, apart from it being illegal, it would be practically impossible to fit it into a scratch project. The limit for the data size of a scratch project in scratch 3.0 is 50 megabytes, whilst an average length movie would be at least 1 gigabyte (there's 1000 megabytes in a gigabyte). So, even if you for some reason wanted to, you couldnt.
Nope, that's misinformation.

No, that’s Scratch 2.0 not 3.0.

The simple answer is that pirating is illegal. While huge companies might not notice if you pirated their movie on a small website such as Scratch, the practice is illegal and I don't think the Scratch Team would allow it. It doesn't matter if it's theoretically possible, you just shouldn't do it. It's similar to how the ST bans projects that only focus sharing music because it doesn't spark creativity. The media does not belong to you, so it's not creative. It's as simple as that.

Oh sorry about that but what is it on 3.0?

UM ACTUALLY there's 1024 MB in a GB XiB and XB are confusing, and the 50 MB limit is no longer true with 3.0. Absolute misinformation.

It's okay. Maybe edit your post to make sure that people don't believe it?
