Just wondering why our mascot is a cat and not anything else. I don’t hate scratch cat.

Because Scratch got it's name from using a DJ set with the needle and you “scratch” the disc. Probably, when Scratch was called Scratch, Cats ‘scratch’ and that's probably how.

There's other Scratch mascots too, they're just not as well known, all of them can be seen in this image.

Scratch takes its name from a technique used by disk jockeys called “scratching”

And they used cats since they scratch.

Or prob Mitch loved cats and even made it a mascot.
