Who was the first most popular Scratcher?
This question is very difficult to answer. Because followers didn't exist in the 1.x era, it's impossible to get a decisive answer of who was the first most popular Scratcher. If you were to ask people who were around back then, you'd likely get several conflicting answers.
I'd say that the earliest Scratch Team members were the first most popular Scratchers (specifically Paddle2See, cheddargirl, etc.), as they were mostly known due to their moderation efforts and were likely frequently seen around the community.
For what it's worth though, griffpatch rose in popularity just a couple of months after 2.0 first launched and he's been the most popular Scratcher ever since.

Who was the first most popular Scratcher?
It's hard to say who, the person who got the first follower ever on Scratch would technically be the most popular person on the site if everyone else on the site had none.

Honestly, what does “popular” even mean in this sense? All of the above replies seem to indicate that followers boost your popularity, and that it’s a set value that actually means something. The word “popular” is a loose term that can vary in definition from person to person. This is immeasurable.

…Except, if you want to get technical, whatever the first test account (probably a deleted user) was, was the first user to exist and possibly be noticed by a person or group (the developers), so they would be the first “popular” user. If you’re talking about a non-Scratch Team user, well, that’s quite unmeasurable. The first non-Scratch Team user could very well be an unknown user. In the 1.x era, there wasn’t really much of a community. It was pretty small. So I don’t know, probably @mres, @andresmh, @Lightnin, @jay, @kaj, or someone similar.
I don’t see many potential benefits in finding the answer to such a vague question, though. If you want an answer, here it is, but it’s pretty inconclusive and a bit unsettling to me.

Who was the first most popular Scratcher?
The ScratchTeam account wasn't registered until May 2008. The site was created in March of 2007.-snip-But ScratchTeam is the owner profile
