Lemme know how the game is, I’ve been considering getting a remake sometime (probably not BDSP, though, there are some gens I prefer more than it) and I’d like to maybe at least have an idea of if they’re any good.
I’ll probably wait until gen 5, 6, or 7 remakes to get a remake, since they’re probably gonna be the next remakes over the next few years anyway

okay so, when bdsp came out they were a glitch-ridden mess. after the day one patch, they're just mediocre. i don't think that bdsp are offensively bad games, but if you already played dppt then there's not much point in getting them, whereas frlg, hgss, and oras were undeniably improvements on the originals. i'm glad that they removed HMs, and the new clothing options are a nice touch, but bdsp lack any of the actual extra content that previous remakes had (like the delta episode of oras). the closest we get is ramanas park extending your playtime by a couple of hours to get all of the legendaries - which by the way is a complete grind and also a really lame way of giving us legendaries, but that's par for the course at this point. then there's the art style; again, most of the time it's not a problem, but when it's bad (e.g. chibi cyrus being the least intimidating thing ever and completely undercutting any tension in the plot) it's really bad.

i don't think bdsp are bad games. i think that a lot of the hate they get is overblown because of the circumstances surrounding their release - people had been waiting for a sinnoh remake for years by the time bdsp finally arrived, and what they got was a half-baked, made-in-unity carbon copy of the originals, complete with the glitch that removes suction cups' out-of-battle ability. bdsp were fine, but if the pokémon company had cared, they could have made something great.

on a lighter(?) note, the only shiny i've ever failed was a shiny inkay in usum. i was sos chaining for it and i was relatively early into the chain. i looked away as the pokémon was being called and couldn't be bothered to wait for the battle background to pan back around so i could see whether the ally that was called in was shiny or not, so i just attacked it. it was, in fact, shiny. i reclaimed it a couple days after and inkay isn't a great shiny anyway so i'm not too torn up over it
