Add Emojis
So Scratch has a list of emojis that are allowed but I wish they had Football and Basketball. They have baseball but they should have football and basketball too.

That list may be outdated.No if you see on my Profile I've tried to add Football were it says NFL and basketball were it says NBA but It won't stay

Most emojis are outside of character set UTF-8, which is, to my knowledge, what Scratch supports

That list is outdated. But support adding football and basketball. Some people wanna show they love those sports tooSo you are supporting me??? If so thx. Can you perhaps try to get a member of the Scratch Team to see this???? I just saw you have 1000+ Posts

Basically, think of UTF as Unicode range, Unicode being a universally available set of characters to use.Most emojis are outside of character set UTF-8, which is, to my knowledge, what Scratch supportsIDK what your talking about
So, these are divided into ranges. Most alphabets are supported by range UTF-8 and up. Now, most emojis, they’re UTF-16 and up, i believe, and you can only use up to what your site supports. Scratch supporting up to UTF-8, anything over UTF-8, won’t be supported. Everything under it, however, is supported.

seems like you seem slightly comfused.Ok….Basically, think of UTF as Unicode range, Unicode being a universally available set of characters to use.Most emojis are outside of character set UTF-8, which is, to my knowledge, what Scratch supportsIDK what your talking about

Ill explain this in a even easier to understand way: lets say you are the programming (not programmer btw) for scratch. You listen to “words” (in this case, Unicode) and draw out the correct drawing. If I say “Apple” you would understand and draw that, same with banana, sushi, cat. HOWEVER, if I say this word (click the link since its too long to write here, its 180k letters long), you OBVIOUSLY would have no idea what to draw. Same here, Any word above UTF-8 (so something like “any word with more then 30 letters”) is unable to be recognized by the scratch programming.
Scratch cant support UTF-16, just like how you wouldn't be able to read (or draw, since if u cant read it, you cant even know what it means) any word with over a few thousand characters.

Most unicode characters are over 16 UTF. They probably did this to prevent bad emojis like eggplant, etc. you know

I don't know the actual reason, but it's not UTF-8. (Also the more technical name for this is the Basic Multilingual Plane, but it's not that important. And yes, this is copy and pasted.)
