What does OC and MAP mean?
Hi, I was just wondering what OC and MAP mean because they seem to be common scratch terms and I don't know their meaning of them. Thx!

What does OC and MAP mean?
oc and map are commonly used outside of scratch too, especially in animation and art!
oc stands for “original character” - a character someone has created. i feel like the name is pretty self explanatory; any character you’ve made or drawn can be considered one. on scratch, people often use their own creations, or “ocs”, in drawings they do or animations they make.
map means “multiple animator project”, and it’s when one animator invites some other animators to make an animation, normally to music and commentary. a good place to find maps to join is the collaborations subforum.

What does OC and MAP mean?
This post is a bit of a long one, so I've separated it with quotes for your convenience.
OC stands for Original Character. It's exactly what it says on the tin. Outside of Scratch, it's usually used to refer to fan made characters for an existing series. Although here, people kind of just use it to describe any character.
MAP stands for Multi Animator Project. A MAP is a type of project that's equal parts animation and community event. Its intended output is an animation made up of several distinct clips - or “Parts” - created by different animators, usually synced to music.
They work by requesting that the viewer remixes and replaces the project with their part. These parts are then stitched together by the host of the MAP, before being shared as the finished product.
MAPs also exist outside of Scratch, but I haven't seen them as much. And I don't really know as much about them either.
