Having the old layout as an option for people who can navigate that one better is a good idea. The only change would be the layout, the features would be the same across both versions.
Many sites have the option to view the “legacy” design of a webpage if someone prefers the old design, features are the same but it looks different.
There could be an option in the profile settings menu on if you want to use the current 3.0 studio design or the 2.0 design. Like a toggle on/off thing.

They can be downloaded, but they aren't supported – the ST won't fix bugs or add new features. If there was an alternative version of the studio page, people who use it wouldn't want it to have bugs. They would also expect it to have the same features as the default version.

They probably have more resources than the Scratch Team.

You can get the old scratch studio layout using the (removed by moderator - please don't name browser extensions) chrome extension.

The current layout is very intimidating and oversized, and looking at it feels a bit stressful since it gives the feeling of being “towered over”. For people who like the current design they can keep the new one, but an option to view studios in a design more like the previous one would be a good idea. The new features of studios would be the same, the design would just be different. It could be compared to using the older versions of the editor.
EDIT: THIS IS NOT REJECTED. What is rejected is reverting the whole entire update. I’m just suggesting an option to change the LAYOUT. And this would be a personal setting applying to all studios, not a choice for the studio owner.

It would make scratch need a lot more memory. They already have 800M projects, 100M accounts and 30M studios.
