Introducing ScratchOS X
Hi folks!
We're excited to introduce the next generation of ScratchOS! Learn all about the highlights here.

For quicker access to the main features of ScratchOS, we have introduced the taskbar, which includes the home button, a new flyout for Gobo, a clock, and controls for volume and Wi-Fi. You can use it from every app and it has improved compatibility for mobile devices.

Get focused on your work with improved notifications! We have added support for message counts on app icons, and the new clock app allows you to create alarms easier than before. The Meower cloud was improved and has got new phrases and enhanced stability.

Take control of ScratchOS with the new settings page! Customize it with more settings and improved themes to make it look how you want. And, for better access to the CMD panel, use the new button in the taskbar (it works only with dev mode enabled)!

This and more in the new ScratchOS X! Try it and give feedback so that we can improve it!

Announcing ScratchOS X 0.0 stable release
Hi,
We are announcing the stable release of ScratchOS X next week! The update may take some hours and ScratchOS will not be available during that time.
WARNING: All cloud data will be reset before the update. Meower, dev mode, and other features will not work for some time. If you don't want to lose your data, copy it.
The release should resolve most of the bugs in ScratchOS. However, we are only humans and don't see everything. If you notice a bug, please report it in the comments.
Get ready!

Announcing ScratchOS X build 22
In this update, we drastically reduced the number of assets. Loading now will be faster on mobile devices. Also, this may be the last update before the stable release of ScratchOS 3.0.0 next Thursday.

Announcing end of support for ScratchOS 1.x
ScratchOS 2.0 was released months ago, but we also still have been making bug and security fixes to its predecessor, ScratchOS 1. However, those fixes take the time that we could use to improve the newest edition of ScratchOS, so we decided to stop providing updates for ScratchOS 1 in December 2021. ScratchOS Legacy will still receive updates until June 2022. Anyway, we recommend using ScratchOS X, because it has the most features and fixes.

Announcing ScratchOS 3.0.1

So, after shipping ScratchOS to mobile devices, we thought about how we could make it better on them. This update is the answer! We have made more touch-friendly buttons and a feature that shows visual feedback when you tap the screen. But there's more: finally, you can play our small Space game on your smartphone!
To make place for the new settings, the Settings app was redesigned with tooltips for every setting that explains what it does. The Scratch Team finally fixed its translation API so we are excited to re-add the Translate app! Also, the design was slightly changed in this version: the taskbar is now transparent and our home and welcome screen look fresher.
Under the hood, we have added the support for XAI, our system-wide security protocol, to our App Store and BitToys, which should make the apps more stable and safe.
That's all for now! Don't miss any new updates from our side and Scratch on!

Announcing ScratchOS 3.1.0
After 2 months we decided to make a major update, and the features are not bad.
More backgrounds for the homescreen - a thing that was highly requested - are finally here! Go to the settings to switch between 6 different backdrops.
Also control freaks have an advantage of this update. Take the clock in the taskbar, that shows seconds from now on! Just turn it on in the settings, and you won't miss a moment!
So, we don't know what time it is, but we know that it's time to update ScratchOS!

Introducing ScratchOS 3.2
Hello,
It's been a long time since our last update. Well, we're excited to announce that we have a new logo and some neat new features for you!
You'll notice the changes immediately after you click the green flag. A new startup animation and sound will welcome you now!
ScratchOS was kind of dement until yet. All data got lost when you closed the tab or accidentally clicked the green flag. Those times are over! In the Shut down menu there is an option to save all your work that generates a code that you can copy. When you later restart ScratchOS, simply head over to Shut down > Load and paste it there. Easy, isn't it?
For many people, screen space is a problem. The taskbar is just too big. Well, why not hide it completely? The new auto-hide taskbar option allows you to make the taskbar disappear when it's not hovered by the mouse! So you always have the space you need.
Last but not least, we've improved our Dev mode. It shows app versions and an FPS counter in the left corner of the taskbar.
Now it's your time: go ahead and try out the new features and provide feedback!

ScratchOS X 3.5 released!
This is a minor feature update, but it's quite dense considering that it only took 1 hour.
Performance tweaks
Ever since ScratchOS launched, we've been hard at work improving performance while continuously adding new features. One day, we realised that with every new feature, the performance impact grew exponentially. So, in 2021, we built the “X” kernel as a new core for ScratchOS 3.0, which increased speed and scrapped away a whole lot of old and un-optimised code. Our main goal back then was to remove most duplicate code and reduce assets, running everything in a centralised runtime.
Now, 3 years later, we can say we got a whole lot closer to that goal. Because now, all system app icons are clones of the same sprite! This allowed to make a new fancy home screen animation, gives a lot of flexibility, and makes it much easier to update the home screen and the panel. Expect many improvements to those parts soon.
The Music app
You found it annoying to not be able to have to manually restart songs every time they ended. Say hello to the Repeat button! You can now listen to songs in a loop by simply pressing it once. Handy, isn't it?
Oh, and if you don't like the music of the Space Game, don't worry! Simply start a song from the Music app, which will play instead of the default game music.
And as always…
Bug fixes. A lot of them. We've bashed out some of the biggest bugs, and there may still be some out there. Make sure to report them in the comments!
Have a nice day and **Scratch on**!
