they might not have meant it to make you feel bad, they probably just didn't realize that it was kinda impolite.

Why do some people send generally impolite comments?
I don't really see the problem here. Yes, it may be impolite if put into the right context. HOWEVER, it may be someone just not expecting you to say hi to them (such as other comments) so they might respond with “uhh hi?” like they didn't expect you (also mentioned in another comment) so this isn't really much of a big deal. If someone is being impolite, er well if you think they are being impolite then best to just ignore it. If it's severe then report that comment for the scratch team to deal with. Also how is that bullying?? This topic doesn't make anymore sense man…“uhh hi?” isnt impoilte. its just showing confusion. like dude calm down
If I don't react now, the person will see an opportunity to bully as I will be seen as “weak” and “sensitive”, which will make me a target.
Like, I'm bullied enough in real life. My only escape is YouTube now lol.

Why do some people send generally impolite comments?
It’s still not really rudeSo, one day, I might say to a usually very kind person ‘Hi!’, and the response can sometimes be an impolite one, like, :Context matters here — and so does differing perspectives. If a Scratchers checks their profile and sees that someone who they don't know said “hi” to them, they might not understand why. (“I don't know this person, why are they saying ‘hi’ to me without context?”) So they might respond with “uhh hi?” because they're not sure why the other user said hi.
''uhh hi?".
But why?
I don't think I respond in such a way on Scratch, but I know for a fact that if some stranger came up to me in real life and said hi to me, I would respond in a similar manner. (“why is this person saying hi to me oh no what do they want from me this time”)What is the meaning of turning down another person's day? I had never said a rude word to that person, and neither had they.I don't see “uhh hi?” as rudeness, or something intended to ruin another person's day. From what I see, it seems more like confusion.
No, but it is impolite, in my opinion.
Plus, I had had a decent conversation with that person.
Also, she responds in a nicer way to exactly all people except me. I'm being honest here.
I scroll through the other comments, with people saying “Heyyyyyy!” and she responds with, “Heyy my bestieeee!”
I don’t really know what too say too people who I talk too all the time and just wait days
I don’t mean too be rude, I just don’t know how to respond, even if it’s the simplest thing
I don’t understand how “uhh hi?” Sounds rude when you read it
It just seems like confusion or not knowing what to say

Have you asked the person why they responded that way?
You might learn more about why that person replied the way they did by asking them instead of asking us.

the problem here isn't that they're being rude, the problem is that you were offended by it. they say, don't respond to trolls. or get offended over words that literally have only two different letters. if you got offended, you can just ignore them.
I can tell from experience that unless it's a troll, rude people are not trying to be rude. people just get offended over everything they say.

Why do some people send generally impolite comments?
Why are there 2 pages of people arguing over whether “Uhh, hi?” is impolite?
This is nonsense
this reminds me of those stupid things where people say that the different color heart emojis have different meanings, or that how you say “ok” can completely change the meaning of a sentence

People argue about different color hearts though?really?unless it’s a game it doesn’t really have a different meaning.
I think it’s because OP hasn’t said much

Why do some people send generally impolite comments?
how is that even rude though? saying hi randomly to a stranger or even a friend may come as a surprise, so maybe they're confused as to why you said hi randomly. but it is NOT THAT SERIOUS. i highly doubt people are trying to be mean or rude when they say “uhh hi.”

Here is the truth. The internet is like a hammer. What is it meant to be used for? as a tool. Now can a hammer be used to harm others? Yes. Does it happen much? no. Does it happen at all? Of course.
No place on the internet (including scratch) is completely positive, and no one can change that unfortunately. Sometimes it isn't toxic, and people can interpret it as something it really is not.
On the internet, you dont see anyone's faces, so you dont really take anything like emotion into account. Some people exist on scratch only to make others angry. Of course, scratch is far from the only place where this happens. It happens on quite literally every social platform (and more) imaginable.
The best thing to do is not interact with people like those.
Edit: bruh I just read the original post its not that serious ._.

bro the TC needs to chill and not take everything the worst way, even so, the world isn't that great and not everyone is going to fit your definition of “polite” (“uhh, hi.” isn't inpolite) because not everyone is nice. Its H U M A N N A T U R E

If you think it's resolved, report it to be closed, and don't bump it up unless you want more people to post on it.
