Why do some people send generally impolite comments?
So, one day, I might say to a usually very kind person ‘Hi!’, and the response can sometimes be an impolite one, like, :
''uhh hi?".
But why?
What is the meaning of turning down another person's day? I had never said a rude word to that person, and neither had they.
I was just having a normal day in life, cleaning my room, reading a book, playing with siblings, watching a movie, etc. Then I walk to my laptop, only to find that I get an impolite comment.
I totally understand that some people have had a bad day, but there is no need to push it into someone else's life.
So, if your friend sends you a greeting, don't turn it down like someone's given you a rotten apple for a gift, try to at least be nice.
It's not cool. It doesn't look good.
So. Why. Does. This. Happen?

Why do some people send generally impolite comments?
Context matters here — and so does differing perspectives. If a Scratchers checks their profile and sees that someone who they don't know said “hi” to them, they might not understand why. (“I don't know this person, why are they saying ‘hi’ to me without context?”) So they might respond with “uhh hi?” because they're not sure why the other user said hi. So, one day, I might say to a usually very kind person ‘Hi!’, and the response can sometimes be an impolite one, like, :
''uhh hi?".
But why?
I don't think I respond in such a way on Scratch, but I know for a fact that if some stranger came up to me in real life and said hi to me, I would respond in a similar manner. (“why is this person saying hi to me oh no what do they want from me this time”)
I don't see “uhh hi?” as rudeness, or something intended to ruin another person's day. From what I see, it seems more like confusion. What is the meaning of turning down another person's day? I had never said a rude word to that person, and neither had they.

No, but it is impolite, in my opinion.
Plus, I had had a decent conversation with that person.
Also, she responds in a nicer way to exactly all people except me. I'm being honest here.
I scroll through the other comments, with people saying “Heyyyyyy!” and she responds with, “Heyy my bestieeee!”

Why do some people send generally impolite comments?
Tone is hard to convey through plain text and the way a message can be interpreted differs from person to person.
i'm not denying the possibility that the message has a negative-leaning voice, but to me it just sounds like confusion.

I totally understand that they could be confused because I wasn't active for an hour or something, but I did know them on Scratch (not in real life obviously).

Interesting. And while it is impossible to know what one's tone is through text, “uhh” can be used for many different things.
For example:
1. In confusion, as in “uhhhhh what????”
2. Nervousness, as in “uhhhhhhhhh……..the answer is…..”
3. Negative tone, as in “uhhhh, ur not my bestie so I'll ignore the fact that politeness is necessary.”

like dude calm down“uhh hi?” isnt impoilte. its just showing confusion.
If I don't react now, the person will see an opportunity to bully as I will be seen as “weak” and “sensitive”, which will make me a target.
Like, I'm bullied enough in real life. My only escape is YouTube now lol.

the attempt at fixing that users grammer only makes me more confused. “It isn't impolite” isn't correct. “isn't impoilte” is correct.isnt impoilte. It isn't impolite. its It is just showing confusion. snip snip this text“uhh hi?”

Why do some people send generally impolite comments?
“Uh, Hi?” Isn't an “impolite” comment- It seems more like confusion to me. Someone replying in a confused intonation is NOT said person trying to take out their anger on you. People reply in a confused tone sometimes, that's life. Someone saying “Uhh Hi?” isn't something to get worked up about, either- it's 2022, and people say that sometimes.
Rant over. SK out.

how will not responding to “uhh hi?” make you a target lol, they probably had no bad intentions and were just trying to talk also thinking “uhh hi” is impolite is pretty sensitive behavior tbh

Why do some people send generally impolite comments?
On Scratch, I have a filter. Outside of Scratch, I don't. So, on Scratch, if somebody I don't know says hi to me, I might say “hi” with all lowercases and leave it at that.
Outside of Scratch, if somebody I don't know contacts me, I'm going to say something like “ummm, hi?” because I don't know who they are.
In short, different people have different ways of interpreting things. Just because you take it one way doesn't mean they didn't mean it another.
