when i first joined scratch in summer of 2020 with my old account, @EmEm317 , i was amazed by how easy it was to code and make games, and instantly fell in love. as the days, and weeks went by, i gradually got better, and began coding more complex games and creating better projects. I used to love the coding aspect of scratch, but now it feels like it's turned into a social media platform for kids of all ages. also, since users have the ability to love and fave projects as well as follow other scratchers, is scratch technically considered social media? if you have an answer, please reply to this with your response. thank you so much, and have a wonderful day!

Yes, however, Scratch has a very strict moderation because there are kids in elementary schools here.

on scratch, you can upload projects
you can gain followers and popularity
sure, scratch has more of an ‘educational aspect’ to it, but it still fits all of the criteria for being a social media website

The Scratch website is social media, but you don't need to use it like that. If you want, you can just make projects using Scratch and not interact with the community at all.

The definition of social media is “websites and applications that enable users to create and share content or to participate in social networking”. On scratch you can do all those, so in my opinion it would be a social media. Social media isn't necessary bad.

Yes. I do believe that Scratch is Social Media but it is a lot more simpler. It is simple to the extent that mere 7 year olds can use it. There are moderators to check content, which is a very nice addition. I like that people can interact with others, which makes scratch giants like griffpatch more great than ever before. Also, with the addition of social media Scratch, we can see trends and make them our goal. Also, social media encourages people to be more social. I personally love the social media version of scratch.
