Griffpatch has the most followers on scratch. So I would say Griffpatch is the most famous/popular scratcher.

anyways i would like to debate on animations - i should state that i think wazzo could be in the top category. even though he quit several years ago, i still see people leaving comments on his profile daily, and also he was the 2nd most followed at the peak. i like huntedskelly as much as the next guy, but there are arguably more famous animators out there.

to the op: household names generally include the following:
griffpatch has been the most followed scratcher for multiple years in a row, and has made 8 out of the top ten most liked projects on scratch. famous projects he made include paper minecraft, scratch geometry dash and scratch slither.io
will_wam is a famous contender, and has been consistently in the top 10 most followed scratchers for multiple years in a row. famous projects he made include the ninja series and all of those cloud polls
sharkyshar is currently the most followed animator on scratch (following the recent dethroning of wazzo, long story), and i would list some of her famous projects, but it's not like there's any projects with strangely abnormal view counts

point taken. i've heard of the animators but not moss-shadow. really it depends on which side of scratch you're in, but if the op was looking for general answers, the top followed are probably the answer they were seeking

But barely anyone knows about it compared to Griffpatch.

How are you defining “fame”? You all seem to be defining it by follower counts. But in terms of how well-known they are, I’d say @Will_Wam, @kaj, @Berricake, @WazzoTV, @7sofa, @Za-Chary, @griffpatch, etc. are Scratchers that are commonly mentioned and known. It’s hard to tell who would be “most” famous in this sense, though. But does this at least alleviate your confusion?

If you define “fame” as most wide spread across the site, @-Xaf- comes to mind (you've probably heard, for example Super World before).
