Why is this word setting off the bad word detector? I tried saying it in a comment and got muted .

Discord is the name of a private messaging site.
You can say it on the forums, just don’t share discord tags.

That seems kind of unnecessary for it to be censored. It's like not allowing people to say Instagram or Deviantart - Both of those can also be used as private messaging sites.

And no one should be mentioning them.

Why not? I repost all my art from DA first so I can retain the rights to it. I mention this on every art project I posted there first. I have never had a problem with this.

Here's a question - can you think of one reason to say discord rightfully in a comment?

Note, if its shared on Scratch, its under CC) as long as it is shared period. You agree to this when you join and share a project.
To the OP: unless youre talking about the MLP character, you probably don’t need to be saying it.

I give credit to my profile on DeviantArt, as this is the original poster of the content, while mentioning that I am the same person. This essentially means that anyone remixing or using in other ways MUST give credit to the Deviantart profile.

I use my own drawings with permission from my Deviantart profile, which holds the liscence to my art.

Here's a question for you - if someone pirates a movie and posts it as a project in scratch, with credit given to the copyright holder, is that legal?

“Here's a question - can you think of one reason to say discord rightfully in a comment?”

Dis·cord
/ˈdiskôrd/
noun
1.
disagreement between people.
“a prosperous family who showed no signs of discord”

2.
MUSIC
lack of harmony between notes sounding together.
“the music faded in discord”

How about using it as one of these meanings? It has legitimate meanings, especially as a musical term.

if you upload a stolen piece of copyrighted work, while it isnt under CC0, as you don’t own it, you own your art. As such, it is valid for it to be under CCC0 if you yourself upload it to Scratch, since, again, everything u0ploaded to Scratch is under CC0. Exception is if you don’t own the rights to the source material, but, again, you own your own art.
Also, pirating movies and uploading your own work are two different things.
Lets say i were to use Wattpad, and write a story. I copyright it. So, I share it on Scratch. Boom, CC0, despite the fact Wattpad says otherwise, I own it, I share it here, CC0.

Now, how often is that definition used? And look up Discord. Don’t look up “Discord definitionz,’ just discord. What pops up immediately

How about you look up Nike? Not Nike definition, just Nike. All that comes up is the company. I bet you didn't know that the Greek goddess of victory was named Nike.

When you are discussing music creation and theory, then yes it is a common word. I also use it in the first definition often in real life.

I keep my Deviantart profile separate from my scratch profile. I do not say that I (meaning my scratch account) own the art. My Deviantart profile owns my art. I attribute all credit to that entity.

1. Nike isn’t inappropriate for Scratch, Discord is.
2. Again, which definition is used more?
3. Who owns your DA profile?
4. Adding onto 1, what does the f slur mean? Wood. So, should you be allowed to say it in refrence to it? I personally refer to wood a lot in it(yes, I’m gay, and this is an example)
5. Isn’t the r word a word used in aviation?
6. Adding onto #1, if i used my rap music on Scratch, but YouTube owned the license, and it was not CC0, it wold now be CC0, cuz i own my YT channel.

1. It isn't about which is appropriate or not. I'm saying that a google search is no proof of the obsolescence of one definition of a word.
2. It doesn't matter which definition is used more. It's not a dirty word like the “b word” which does have a legitimate meaning but is still censored.
3. It does not matter who owns the account. The account holds the rights. Not me. If I use a song from youtube in my project, I can just give credit to the youtube account who published the song. The account holds the rights. The person behind the account owns the account, but only indirectly holds the rights to the video.
4. All “dirty words” have legitimate meanings. Donkeys, female dogs, the act of reproduction, etc. Discord is not a dirty word and it is quite pointless to censor.
5. Same as 4. Until fairly recently, it was also a medical term.
6. If you just posted the music, then yes it would be under CC licensing. If you gave credit to the youtube channel, despite owning both accounts, the youtube channel would retain the rights.

I just think that it's unnecessary censorship and a case of Scratch's childproofing gone too far.

1. However, common usage in the selected space should be. Online, Discord is most often used to define the chatting platform. And, Scratch is online.
2. So, should double meaning words be allowed?
3. You own the account. And the copyright to the artwork.
|(All original works found in the DeviantArt galleries are the copyrighted property of the submitting artist- https://www.deviantartsupport.com/en/article/how-do-i-purchase-prints )
4. The word * is allowed if you’re referring to sexuality. However, the chat site is more common, and sexuality is more common. IE, I can say ‘I’m homosexual,’ not anything about what that means buying the fact I’m attracted ti my gender. This is also due to Scratch accepting every sexual orientation, and it wouldn’t make sense for them to specifically block it if they’re ok with discussing it.
5. Medical terms aren’t appropriate for Scratch. If they have other meaning, the alternative meaning may be ok for Scratch.
6. If you upload something to YouTube, you own the rights. Basically, who would I ask? YouRube or the YouTuber to use the content. Using your logic, id ask DeviantArt to use your art, cuz they’d own the copyright. Think of it this way, I wouldn’t ask the brothers that made Stranger Things ti use it, id ask Netflix.

The reason it's censored is for child safety. Imagine a scenario like this: child goes on Scratch, child finds conversation about Discord, child looks it up, child decides to make an account, child goes on server, child learns other stuff that they aren't supposed to know. The parent will blame Scratch and a lot of trouble will ensue. It may seem unfair but that's what happens, and situations like those DO happen, even if you don't want to think they do. Roblox suffered the same problem.

Just because you need to use it for your personal stuff doesn't mean it can't affect other people.

Any content you post on Scratch people automatically are able to remix as long as they change something about the project. Putting your Scratch username and a link to your profile is sufficient credit. See here: https://scratch.mit.edu/terms_of_use

1. If I'm discussing music theory for a song I'm writing, then I should be allowed to say discord. I'm sure if the word wasn't censored, far more people would use it here, especially within the many groups of amateur composers on this site.
2. If there is an offensive meaning, then go ahead and censor it. I personally prefer completely uncensored discussion, but I understand the need for it in a site targeted toward a younger audience. In literally any other setting, discord is a completely fine word. Even the site is completely safe if you know what you're doing.
3. Technically, yes. I can, however, attribute all credit to the DA account and thus retain the copyright. The Scratch version is always a highly reduced quality image, so even if you were right about the copyright, I would *still* hold copyright of the full image.
Also, DeviantArt gives the copyright to the account, not the person(s) behind it. Yes, I own the account, but the copyright belongs to my account and not me directly.
4. What is that supposed to mean? I can't tell what you're trying to say here.
5. I said it used to be a medical term. It is no longer used as it is a slur. Also, medical terms are appropriate. Why though, is discord's alternate meaning not allowed?
6. You own the rights to every video you upload through the account. And actually, you should ask whoever owns the rights to Stranger Things. In this case, it doesn't matter that the brothers made the series, as they sold the rights to Netflix. By uploading to YouTube, you keep the rights to your content. Netflix purchases the rights to all the content they show on their platform. The two platforms are there inherently different in the sense we are discussing.

I was not using the word discord in the sense of the social platform. How would discussing music cause this scenario?

My content is not generated by a user of Scratch and as such retains copyright. If I use an image from google in a project, is that image brought under CC licensing?
