What is the point of multiple accounts?

This is a random question but I have seen that some people use more than 1 account for different things and I am just wondering why. Also what different things would I use multiple accounts for?

What is the point of multiple accounts?

It depends on the person. I have multiple to fall back on in case I need to test cloud variables or to be able to say I have 1k+ posts on multiple accounts(if only)
There’s also secret accounts. The ST allows them as long as they don’t overrun the servers.

To answer your question, you can find click here.

Can I have more than one account?
It's fine to have a few accounts on the Scratch website, as long as none of them are used to break the Community Guidelines. In that case, all related accounts may be blocked or deleted.

From what I've seen, scratchers make multiple accounts because they like to keep their “main account” organized. For example: “Alt” accounts, “Test” accounts…etc. Alt & test accounts are mostly used for following people… make projects they don't want to make on their main account.

Hope that helps!

A secret collab account is an account where you can share pieces of a collaboration with someone else, without all of Scratch being able to easily find it.

Anyways, personally I use alt accounts because if I did everything on one account, my projects that I put more time into would be drowned out by remixes. A lot of people use a second account for smaller projects that they don't want to put the focus on as much, or they may have a dedicated account to post all their writing or music or something like that. Hope I helped!

What is the point of multiple accounts?

I have a test account called “TLONTest” because I don’t want to clutter up my projects on my main. I see where your coming from, some people have Music accounts, prize giving accounts, animation accounts, you name it

for tests, animations, art, and other types of projects. You may post one on one account, and another type of thing on another account. As long as you don't overrun the servers, the Scratch Team allows alternate accounts ^^

I am currently an alt, so I will give some reasons why. It can help keep a main organized, Or it could just be used to be anonymous because too many people know you on scratch and would like to say some things you would like to not say on your scratch main. It could just be used to commemorate an old account or a mixture of all these things.

What is the point of multiple accounts?

Mainly, I think it's just to separate your actions across multiple channels of interaction. For example, I could post my favorite things on this account, D-ScratchNinja, and create a new, alternate account if ever I want to share a project that would probably add clutter to the projects I've shared as D-ScratchNinja.

It's also useful in rare situations to prove actions on your accounts. Like, if someone hacked your main account but your alternate account had a different password, you would be able to say, from your alternate account, that your main account was hacked, but you'd probably never need to do that.

But it can also complicate things for you if you aren't prepared. Scratch wasn't designed for people to have multiple accounts, even if being able to reuse your email address for new accounts makes it really easy to. You can't switch accounts with one click like you can on some social media websites. You'd have to check each account individually for messages and comments and make sure you're on the right account for what you want to do, which can be a little easier if you have multiple browser profiles, but still. I don't think I'd be able to manage that.
