I'm trying to add an animated thumbnail on my banner, but it doesn't show up. I tried with another project, this time shared, but it still doesn't work.
Why?

if you're using that particular extension, then the gif needs to be under 1 mb.

you might have to use this code for regular projects

when green flag clicked
set [ ghost] effect to (100)

this is how its done for normal projects, but if if you want a banner thumbnail you should do

Probably because it's not under 1MB. I had this many times before, just use a gif compressor.
