Nuzlockes are a way to make games of Pokemon more harder. If you haven't played/seen a nuzlocke before then let me explain the basic gist:

The Nuzlocke Challenge is a set of rules intended to create a higher level of difficulty while playing the Pokémon games. Many challengers feel that the rules also serve the purpose of encouraging the use of Pokémon the player would not normally choose, and promoting closer bonds with the player's Pokémon. The rules are not an in-game function, but are self-imposed on the part of the player, and thus subject to variation.

Rules:

• Any Pokémon that faints is considered dead, and must be released or put in the Pokémon Storage System permanently (or may be transferred to another game, as long as the Pokémon is never able to be used again during this run).
  

• The player may only catch the first wild Pokémon encountered in each area, and none else. If the first wild Pokémon encountered faints or flees, there are no second chances. If the first encounter in the area is a double battle, the player is free to choose which of the two wild Pokémon they would like to catch but may only catch one of them. This restriction does not apply to Pokémon able to be captured during static encounters, nor to Shiny Pokémon.
  

Other near-universally used rules include:

• The player must nickname all of their Pokémon, for the sake of forming stronger emotional bonds.
  

• The player may only use Pokémon they have captured themselves, meaning Pokémon acquired through trading, Mystery Gifts, etc., are prohibited. As for trading and retrading the same Pokémon (for the purpose of evolving a Graveler, for example), there is no firm consensus. As of White: Hard-Mode Episode 3, it is implied that the player can accept Pokémon that are received freely from NPCs.
  

• The player may not voluntarily reset and reload the game whenever things go wrong. Being able to do so would render all of the other rules pointless.

I've never heard of this thread before. It's caught my interest.

I've watched Youtubers Nuzlocke all different types of games, from Red to Arceus. And I've been thinking about Nuzlocking Arceus myself, but I've been hesitant since, after playing through the whole game, it's not easy. Any advice for me?

I would start by learning the basics like type matchups, abilities, what pokemon each trainer has in a certain game you can prepare, what pokemon you can find in each given area etc.
Then if you feel ready, you can start your first run.

when i got sword the first thing i wanted to do was a nuzlocke, I lost my rookidee immediately and then quit
Want to do another nuzlocke in the future though

Alright, I did some research and I started a run yesterday. I picked Oshawott as my starter since the Kleavor fight is close, and the only other water Pokemon you have access to is Buizel and Psyduck (plus evolutions if you could get to that level cap)

I did an Emerald Hardcore Nuzlocke on original hardware (no emulators) but failed at around Wattson or so

Get your creatures to an absurdly high level so you can steamroll everything. I recommend fighting Alpha Pokemon for the EXP Candies they drop.

I started nuzlockeing Pokemon Y and I found a shiny Litleo while grinding, so I added the shiny clause, which states “If naturally encountering a shiny (no shiny hunting) you may catch said shiny, but you may not use it.” My team consists of Froakie, Pikachu, Flabebe, Charmander, Pidgey, and one that I can't remember. I got some god-teir encounter luck with the Pikachu and Flabebe.

Except there's the level limit where if you grind too high the Pokemon will no longer obey you.

how do you get a Charmander

I'm seriously considering doing a Kaizo Ironmon (kinda like a nuzlocke) of Omega Ruby, X, or Sun. Any advice?
