Are countryballs banned from scratch?
https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/749430797Bro I just have bad news…that someone got a message that countryballs are not appropriate for scratch…I think there is too much confusion going on cause I make countryball projects sometimes. I just wanted to say…that people need to have a second thought before reporting a project. I am now super scared cause I don't want my account to be erased just because of countryball stuff.
That person was me. Also who else thinks that the Scratch Team kinda declared war on the Scratch Countryball community?
Edit : Didn't realize he said link to the project, woops

Are countryballs banned from scratch?
However, most of my countryballs are not down except one of my project, but I understood why cuz uhhhh, it's like “b@r” and also, my precious CBU studio (Countryball Universe) got down, however, it is not ST's fault, I find it hard to believed it's ST's fault because most of CBU know one person who is veeerrrry baddd countryball scratcher which most likely reported the CBU….howeverr, I believed that ST moderation is broken or some people who just reported it because they hate it or something…..anyway, be safe, countryballers! and scratchers too!

As an Australian I find stereotypes rather amusing, like ‘Oh yeah mate that’s cactus mate au yeah koala kangaroo every animal in this country is actively trying to kill me constantly.' Those are funny. It's usually just plain saying ‘Australians are dumb’ that's offensive. At least, for me. I can't really speak for 25.74 million people can I?

This topic was just generally asking if they weren't allowed, not asking why they banned them. Reported for derailing

They're not banned, but always think about the fact that different countries ban different things. For example, you probably shouldn't post a N##i countryball in case a German finds it and reaches out to the German government about it.

I’ve finally played the country ball game on my phone. It’s actually pretty fun. But it is definitely what some countries may deem stereotypical. For example, the Chinese balls have on sensei hats, the Italian balls have chef hats and fancy mustaches, the Canadians have on Santa hats, etc. But these features are just the default and can easily be removed from the ball. So I guess you can use the balls, but be careful how they are used. Even if it’s just slightly stereotypical, that could warrant an entire project removal.

good idea, half of this thread are just countryball fans who joined scratch solely to connect with other countryballers (haha baller joke) having no idea how the site works Reported for derailing

As for OP, countryballs are a bit of a controversial topic. As someone who's actually not that apathetic towards countryball comics themselves (dare say I think they're pretty funny), I've noticed a lot of potentially offensive stereotypes (e.g. slanted eyes or obese countryballs), but you can avoid these stereotypes and you'd be okay. If you wanted to make a game with a specific countryball as the main character, as long as it's not offensive, and doesn't portray the country, organisation or subdivision in a negative light, or contain reenactment of, like, a big war or massacre, it's nice. If you wanna make an animation, like a non-offensive or educational one, that's cool too. The reason countryball projects often get taken down if because of more trivial, possibly offensive details like hats (like Indonesia's one) or stereotypical costumes, not because Scratch outright hates countryballs themselves

Welp I just came back from a temp ban. Anyways, I think the only thing that will work is that we need to write something in the project desc (If it isn’t a controversial topic) That it is apolitical and it’s not real. Putting a disclaimer in the project may cause certain viewers to report the project and get it removed. That’s what I think…maybe someone else might have and idea?

(#8)I think showing the USSR ball is allowed as long as they don't positively portray communismThat kind of thing is a frequent issue. I think it’s just because no one is reporting these kinds of projects, so the Scratch Team never ends up taking them down. Also, I can imagine many of these kinds of projects being taken down without much warning other users (besides the project creator, of course). So you can’t be too sure about that. From what I've seen, most people normally post a bunch of soviet craziness and still never get taken down. I've seen soviet stuff up since 2009 before. So I think scratch ain't caring much about it.
For the most part, Scratch content follows the same general principles. Just about anything is allowed as long as it is respectful, safe, and appropriate. Much of those kinds of offensive jokes would fall under “disrespect” and could get taken down. However, if no one reports it, then the Scratch Team won’t notice for a while. So it would do the Scratch Team a favor to report it when you encounter it.

Scratch Moderation is always like that. Just get alternate accounts and spam report then BOOM the thing is deleted, i think scratch should upgrade there moderation or smh. Because thats the reason why alot of stuff gets deleted. So your right, its not the scratch teams fault, its the scratch Peoples fault.

I’m gonna go into a bit more detail on the game and why I think it’s not allowed.
It actually originated from an art style on a website called Drawballs. People started using that art style for racist comic strips, such as this one, making fun of the fact that Poland can’t fly into space:

Or this one, making fun of Germany’s Nazi past:

I really apologize for the awful image hosting here. Technological restrictions make everything hard. But do you see what I mean? They’re not inherently bad, if used correctly.
