If one wants to tell people that they are not active on that account, one can put it in one's “About Me” or “What I'm Working On”.
Having an entire status dedicated to inactive Scratchers doesn't seem necessary.

But some people forget about their account.

Support, I had a suggestion similar to this where the website would auto-mark the scratcher as inactive.

This would be more useful long term.
I think the criteria for being inactive should be 7 or 8 months without making a project, commenting, loving/favoriting a project, etc.
That's a very long time- I think two weeks is plenty for an ‘inactive’ status. Also, please don't call it a “Left Scratcher”- not only does it make no sense grammatically, but it makes it sound like they're politically left. “Inactive” sounds fine to me. Though the “What I'm Doing” section easily details whether or not a user has done anything recently.
Oops- remember that I was testing out the pls system, so I don't get a chance to think of the status name. Ill change it to inactive scratcher, how's that?

You can easily tell if they are inactive, because they might have it on their About Me or What I'm Working On, or you can just tell by looking at the What I've Been Doing and looking if they have responded to any recent profile comments. There is no need for a whole rank.

This seems to be morphing into an offline detector.

Yeah, and that's already rejected. However, now that I have read some more of the posts, I'd say no support. You can tell by their activity or comments.

8.3 Show when users are online
This suggestion refers to some sort of indicator that lets you know if a user is currently online. The Scratch Team has discussed it and has decided that it is not something that can benefit Scratch as an educational platform. Between making projects, sharing projects, and viewing projects, an online indicator is not much help in these areas.

Maybe just do this for scratchers that have been offline for a week/month?

A bit too short considering I was just off for 3 months since it was summer. Maybe something like 6 months?

This also applies to very old inactive accounts that have been inactive for years. (Ex: Namesnipe accounts)

Considering how many users don't use the site anymore, I believe it would somewhat work.

It is easy to tell when a user is inactive as it is. Actually marking a person as dead is a gross invasion of privacy.

I don’t think this is going to really help anyone. It’ll just cause confusion and act as a way for people to be creepy.

OOps, I was in a hassle when making this suggestion.

This could be manually turned on in account settings.

it's literally in the dictionary:
departed | dɪˈpɑːtɪd |
adjective
dead: a dear departed relative | (as noun the departed) : prayers for the departed.
