16 x 9 aspect ratio please!

The vast majority of devices that would play scratch games (namely PCs) have a 16:9 aspect ratio and the 4:3 ratio of scratch games wastes so much space. Please give us the option to use 16:9 (640 x 360 resolution if scaled from current 480 x 360) in our projects.

Hmm…That would be cool to have a lot larger viewing area and more space to do things, but then again, that may cause even more lag than Scratch already has and may be a danger to the health of a PC.

It would be nice to have as an option, definitely, but it shouldn't be applied to old projects because most of them would be broken by this.

Does youtube crash your computer when you go into fullscreen?

The problem is, the older programs won't be able to do anything with this, since the graphics are all made and stuff.

What? EDIT: Oh now I get it, but I think it should be an OPTION to have 16:9 or default size. Also, the setting of old projects wouldn't be automatically cranked up to 16:9.

No, the flash/HTML5 Youtube player, and similar fullscreen games don't crash your computer because they were written efficiently. The apps were built for that specific purpose. Scratch is relatively extremely unstable, and is very laggy because it is versatile and has no one purpose.

Also, mathfreak, your signature, it… breaks… everything.

Good hopes, but that hasn't been confirmed, and the Scratch 3 prototype still has the 3:4 aspect ratio at the moment.

Semi-support, it doesn't really matter to me because my aspect ratio is 8:5

I think some people are forgetting anamorphic widescreen is a thing which can allow 16:9 content to run on a 4:8 screen. though it will make the project in full-screen look smaller on 4:8.
