Are countryballs banned from scratch?
I have been hearing rumors that the ST banned countryballs.
If they did I will literally quit as I really like making projects out of them.
I REALLY hope they are not.
If so, I am done for…

No they did not, however if it's offensive to the country on an extreme level then yes.

I’m not so sure about that. No they did not, however if it's offensive to the country on an extreme level then yes.
I can agree with you that country balls are not banned. However, I don’t think it has to be offensive on an extreme level necessarily to get it removed. I think even if a countryball is sometimes portrayed as unintelligent or arrogant, it could get removed for being stereotypical. It could also be a problem if, for example, Nazi Germany, Soviet Russia, etc. are used to make a joke about the country. It’s not offensive on an extreme level, but it is definitely still offensive enough to get it taken down.
Countryballs, however, are not inherently bad, like most things on the site. It all boils down to how they’re used. So, countryballs are not banned.

I don't think they are banned unless they are very offensive for a given country.

From what I've seen, most people normally post a bunch of soviet craziness and still never get taken down. I've seen soviet stuff up since 2009 before. So I think scratch ain't caring much about it. Well, unless you start joking about the millions of oofs that occurred, that is a big no no.
Although, I know to absolutely REFRAIN from showing a sw@stika, or make a billion references to the nono regime, as it was a terrible and very racist/offensive event to many people. And blatantly making fun of a country is rude. The only way to truly pass making fun of a country is it to seem as satire as possible, so it is not really offensive. Lets say, France and baguettes, We all know that is stereotypical, and fun to joke around. Heck, I have even seen French talking about baguettes in that way. Or you got America and oil, as an American, that is literally hilarious to joke about sometimes. A lot of things are satire, but using it wrong can result in projects being taken down. Just showing some fun, not-that-offensive humor can pass easily as, probably alright for scratch.

Yeah, I can see that.
Like for say, we start joking about, well, THAT regime from 1933-45 a bunch, well, that is downright stupid.
Shoving it into peoples throats aint gonna cut it.

That kind of thing is a frequent issue. I think it’s just because no one is reporting these kinds of projects, so the Scratch Team never ends up taking them down. Also, I can imagine many of these kinds of projects being taken down without much warning other users (besides the project creator, of course). So you can’t be too sure about that. For the most part, Scratch content follows the same general principles. Just about anything is allowed as long as it is respectful, safe, and appropriate. Much of those kinds of offensive jokes would fall under “disrespect” and could get taken down. However, if no one reports it, then the Scratch Team won’t notice for a while. So it would do the Scratch Team a favor to report it when you encounter it.

I mean like, it is bad to show the soviet balls in the first place? I have a showcase where I drew all 13 soviet republics, with music, that is NON soviet. Is that okay? It basically consists of them speeding along a boardwalk to the beat of the song (it is the gigachad one, but not the “Can I feel your heart” one, a much different one.) It is basically a showcase. It has the hammer and sickle on it, but no jokes inside the actual project itself. Just way too much drawing.

I don’t know about that. I know there’s a rule that Nazi Germany should be only used for clear educational purposes, and I’m not sure whether the same applies for the Soviet Union. I assume so, but that’s a question for the I mean like, it is bad to show the soviet balls in the first place? I have a showcase where I drew all 13 soviet republics, with music, that is NON soviet. However, I do know that Germany (not Nazi Germany, I mean the current iteration of Germany) and Russia (not the Soviet Union) are perfectly fine for Scratch. You might just be best off using those. If it subtracts from the context of your project (and follows the Community Guidelines), then you can add it to your project. But if you want to be safe, you need to listen to me.

Yeah, I never really use nono germany, unless it is safe and censored.
For the soviets, I sometimes use em, but not often. I just wanted to make my artwork honestly.

Ight I should have clarified this earlier. If you post 1939-1945 symbol from Germany or joke about the oofs from any country's dark times, then it will most likely get banned. Other than that, you're mostly fine.I’m not so sure about that. No they did not, however if it's offensive to the country on an extreme level then yes.

They are often offensive as they usually spread stereotypes, but they haven’t been banned.

I'd say they're rather iffy… I know some people use them for educational projects and I don't think they've been outright banned for this reason, but they have origins and uses linked to stereotyping, which isn't good.

It depends on how they’re used. I think they could be useful for a number of things, such as education in geography or history. Just avoid stereotypes, as aforementioned, and you’ll most likely be ok. Are countryballs banned from scratch?
Bro I just have bad news…that someone got a message that countryballs are not appropriate for scratch…I think there is too much confusion going on cause I make countryball projects sometimes. I just wanted to say…that people need to have a second thought before reporting a project. I am now super scared cause I don't want my account to be erased just because of countryball stuff. https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/749430797
