Does anyone else think there's an awful lot more autistic people here than autism prevalence statistics would suggest? I don't know if this applies to anyone here, but I will say it's disrespectful to claim to have any condition just because you have two symptoms from a TikTok video you saw.

I feel that the title is still inaccurate; it seems like a way to use disabilities to get what people want. You don't necessarily need to be autistic for this to hurt your eyes, so I would say you are partially accurate.
Does anyone else think there's an awful lot more autistic people here than autism prevalence statistics would suggest?I feel like this goes for a lot of things other than autism, but yes. I definitely think there are autistic scratchers out there, but there are many who likely haven't done enough research into the subject. Nonetheless, if it hurts your eyes, autistic or not, this can be a problem for many users.

Could you explain how the studio layout is not autism friendly? /genim autistic and its fine.. its fine
Edit: I've done research and gotten lots of replies about this in various places. The layout is not ND friendly due to its size and colors, the fact that it's overstimulating, feels/looks unorganized, and has caused sensory overloads for some Scratchers. Some neurodivergent Scratchers don't feel safe with the update, which is really horrible.

Someone simply needs to explain this suggestion, we cannot assess it properly if no specific changes have actually been proposed. Asking forumers with autism to give their opinions is the best course of action, in my opinion. We may also want to ask the owner what they meant by this suggestion, I doubt they are following the topic anymore, so they will not receive notifications from it.

I would be perfectly happy if it stayed the way it is now. It works pretty well on mobile, although there are wrapping issues, but that can be fixed.
I really doubt anyone is experiencing physical symptoms from a design having different colors than they would expect. If someone is that sensitive they really shouldn't be on the Internet at all, because not every website is perfectly designed to fit every user. Why? I agree with the principle suggested, but not with the execution of the suggestion.
(Being autistic, I do suffer minor sensitivity to visual stimuli myself. Though mine is far less extreme than others, I fully support the idea of even a small alteration to the design. I know it seems strange to be bothered so much by an UI design, but… I can't help it.)

Please stop saying “it looks fine to me” because saying that is like completely ignoring or even mocking people who can't handle this design. It doesn't matter if you can deal with it because there are many people who can't. That's what this topic is about, it was never only for one person.
And for those who don't know why people can't handle it, I think I know why, but this is just copying what other people have said:
There's no empty space on the screen because all of it's filled up by huge boxes and it looks cramped, which could make people uncomfortable.
Everything is saturated and it feels like everything is trying to grab your attention at once, which could make people overwhelmed.
And one more thing that was only temporary, and probably doesn't happen anymore: Some things have changed places, so people don't know where those things are and get lost and confused and it feels unfamiliar.
Everything changing at once and the feelings of being overwhelmed, confused, and uncomfortable with the new design turned away many users and gave people a really bad first impression, which is what they remember most prominently every time they look at a studio page.
Edit: and an even worse first impression because of the limitations on managers and comments and removing the invite followers menu.

If we changed the page’s layout now, it would confuse people again.

It looks fine to me.The whole world was not made for one person.
It’s far too late for people to still not be used to it.I don't know if everyone can “just get used to it” like some people say, but I don't know who to ask to find out.
If we changed the page’s layout now, it would confuse people again. Some people suggested having an option to choose which layout you want, so you could choose not to change the layout to the most recent one.

Some people suggested having an option to choose which layout you want, so you could choose not to change the layout to the most recent one.Well, If the studio is such a big problem to look at as you say it is, then, how would placing a random button in the studio that changes it do much? If they don't like the studio layout, they likely would be discouraged from scratch, and leaving the community. They probably wouldn't look for a fix, as they don't want to look for it. They also aren't likely to go into account settings randomly, as they likely wouldn't think to check there.

Not autistic but still felt uncomfortable as I need some sort of prior information so that I am ready for it also as it is not that mobile friendly as well, I am having a lot of problems. I feel uncomfortable as it is very blue, I mean I like blue but it is hard to adjust with such monotonous scheme. Maybe like the old studios they add some white and gray to the blue and also some navy blue shades. Maybe the font size is lowered as well. I think that would be something to make me comfortable and as I can understand from the discussions happening, to the autistic people and ADHD people as well. I am not saying to revert back to the old colour coding or layout but just replace that monotonous structure. Also I would like if my suggestion is accepted we get some prior notice via announcements forums about a month prior maybe

Some people suggested having an option to choose which layout you want, so you could choose not to change the layout to the most recent one. That would be very difficult for the Scratch Team to maintain.

Instead of changing it for EVERYONE, why don’t, instead, we add options in settings to change the display of the scratch website? It would be better for everyone, including the scratch team as they don’t have to have complaints about the new layout being non-ND friendly, then change the layout again, then have people complain about how terrible it looks, and so on.
I still don’t know what sensory overload means (at least on a human) though, so I don’t know if this will 100% fix this, but yeah.
Like we could add options like “text size”, “image size”, “scratch theme”, etc. This should be included along with a quality of life update.
Edit: if there’s someone who suggested this before in this thread, sorry, but I am NOT reading this entire thread to figure out if someone already said this, I don’t have time right now. If there was someone who said this, tell me, and tell me how it was countered.
