is it possible to calculate the ping in a scratch project?

Actually, You can't, Scratch has the server set up for you, so, on the plus side, You don't have to write the code for the server, on the other hand, it doesn't allow you to modify the code for your server… so… You can't really check your ping without some 3rd party extensions…

There is currently an incorrect ping counter that looks realistic, and could be a good addition to your game. It does exist, and it's concept is clear, but it's not correct.

It is indeed possible to calculate ping. Using the google translate feature, you could ping google translate's servers and then have it send a result back to you, which is when you know it is done. The actual ping will be a bit less because of processing stuff, but still.
