I think the lasso tool would be better for this purpose than the ellipse select. I only support this suggestion if for some reason they don't implement the lasso instead.

I mean, why not? the con doesn't really make sense, as the point of the bitmap editor is to, well, have a bitmap style (or whatever else), an elipse selections wouldn't change the final result, but only make it easier to do certain things
