One think I noticed about my enjoyment of cases, it's how the criminal gets finally cornered. It's a subtle difference, but I think when you've cornered a culprit with evidence where they have no way out when compared to when the culprit confesses themselves after pressing them a ton. I think examples of the former are the second villain in Goodbyes, Big Top, and Memories. To me it makes a massive difference to how I feel finishing a case when compared to ones where there's no solid evidence and the villain confesses without solid evidence proving it apart from Phoenix (And I assume Apollo and Athena as well in the later games) basically nailing the truth. I think Reunion, the first villain from Goodbyes, and Samurai all suffer from that. It far from ruins those cases, heck I think it makes sense in all of them, but it is a less satisfying ending.
Not every case falls into one of those two categories, Recipe doesn't and that's one of my favourite endings to a case, and part of the reason I like that case so much.
