How to Set a PFP
Hi everyone,
Sorry, this probably seems stupid, but I need help.
So, I'm trying to set my PFP, but it doesn't seem to work. I've made sure it is square but I'm not sure what else to do.
Please help!!

This is going to seem stupid, but it worked before - I took a screenshot then cropped it. What are you trying to set your profile picture to?

That's not what I'm asking; sometimes Scratch takes a couple of minutes to show the change. This is going to seem stupid, but it worked before - I took a screenshot then cropped it. What are you trying to set your profile picture to?

Oh, sorry, no, it says like, ‘Maximum file size is 512 KB and less than 500x500 pixels.’That's not what I'm asking; sometimes Scratch takes a couple of minutes to show the change. This is going to seem stupid, but it worked before - I took a screenshot then cropped it. I don't know what that means though.

In that case you need to search for a website that will resize images, change the image to be 500x500 pixels (or lower), download the image, and then upload it.Oh, sorry, no, it says like, ‘Maximum file size is 512 KB and less than 500x500 pixels.’That's not what I'm asking; sometimes Scratch takes a couple of minutes to show the change. This is going to seem stupid, but it worked before - I took a screenshot then cropped it. The image you are trying to set as your pfp is too large, use Oh, sorry, no, it says like, ‘Maximum file size is 512 KB and less than 500x500 pixels.’https://ezgif.com/resize to resize your pfp below 500x500 pixels(120x120 pixels looks best in my opinion) and if the image is above 512 KB, use https://ezgif.com/optimize to reduce the file's size(although, this might reduce the image's quality)
I don't know what that means though.

the file you're trying to upload is too big. the best thing to do would be to crop it to 500x500 and try to lower the file size using compression websites
it would also appear you're not too familiar with file sizes, so I'll add in a quick explanation:
every single file on your computer uses a certain amount of space.there are different units, e.g. bytes, gigabytes, terabytes, picobytes, megabytes(feels familiar?) kb stands for kilobyte. the image must be less than 512 kilobytes to be uploaded as a scratch pfp

yeah it isn't entirely small but having a large resolution (okay not quite 4k or 8k, or maybe so!) does allow you to pack more details in your profile picture and it just overall becomes crisper and sharperactually, 500x500 isn't exactly small ^^^^^^^^^

but the resolution you suggested is actually taller than most screens. scratch would have to put a lot of work into shrinking that down to just 180x180(the largest a pfp is thought to be shown on scratch).yeah it isn't entirely small but having a large resolution (okay not quite 4k or 8k, or maybe so!) does allow you to pack more details in your profile picture and it just overall becomes crisper and sharperactually, 500x500 isn't exactly small ^^^^^^^^^
