I have a question about the Scratch Auto-saving feature

Is there any way to turn that auto saving thing off?

You can't turn autosave off with the online editor (AKA scratch.mit.edu), but you can use the offline editor. It'll have you save manually to your computer instead of autosaving every few minutes.

I don't think so unless you use (removed by meepeygamer567- please don't mention browser extensions because of this policy)
Seriously, browser extensions are probably the only way to turn this feature off and they can't be mentioned due to the policy mentioned above

It's impossible to turn off the auto save feature unless you are using the offline editor

I have a question about the Scratch Auto-saving feature

why would you want to? I mean overwriting a project by saving is horrible but in most cases i just don't see why.

Let's see what happens when I delete a few sprites and it “autosaves”

Once I autosave, the previous save isn't available, meaning that I can't leave the page to get my lost sprites back.

that's exactly what I said, overwriting a project by saving is horrible, but it's not as if everyone remembers to manually save
anyway project backups are the perfect solution for this problem

Yes. Download your project after any big changes so you can revert or get things back if things are headed downhill.

Tbh, I meant updating a game but then in the middle of updating it, the game auto-saves, sorry for not being being too clear, but thanks everyone for your suggestions. Sorry It took me a while to reply back.

Okay. I know what you mean. To prevent that, work on it in the app, save it to your device, and then go to your project on the website and load it to replace the website version of your project.

Projects autosave on the website editor if you're logged in. You'll see “Saving project…” in the top-right corner when an autosave begins.
