A way to filter messages! (300+ supporters)
I think it would be nice to have a way to filter what you want to have show up in your messages. I know that there is the sidebar where you can choose the comments tab, but there isn't any help beyond that. There could be a tab on “account settings” with some check boxes.
Here's a quick mock up of what it could look like:

Smarter Messages? topic for suggestions already madeThanks for the link! However, my idea was a bit different (I'm very sorry if I was not clear enough). Please see the recent
I was thinking that maybe specific types of messages could be filtered out completely.

Yes, I'm sure I forgot quite a few of them. The mock up gets the point across well enough, though. Don't forget a studio updates checkbox.

I'm surmised that's one of them you missed though, it counts as over 60% of all of my messages.

Love-its and favorites should be combined as to me they go great together in messages.

We all love getting a new message… until you start getting tons, and tons of them.
Then you wish there was an easy way to filter what messages you receive and don't.
Personally I like reading comments on my profile and projects but I don't want to be notified whenever somebody loves or favorites my projects.
There should be some kind of option in the Account Settings where you can select exactly what messages you want to be notified about.
Here's a list of some useful options:
I want to get a message when:
(√) someone loves my project
(√) someone favorites my project
(√) someone posts a comment on my project
(√) someone posts a comment on my profile
(√) someone remixes my project
(√) someone invites me to curate a studio
(√) there is new activity in a studio I curate/follow
(√) there is a new post on a discussion I follow (forum)
(√) someone follows me
etc.
You simply check/uncheck the boxes to customize your notifications, for example:
I'd personally set it up like this:
I want to get a message when:
( ) someone loves my project
( ) someone favorites my project
(√) someone posts a comment on my project
(√) someone posts a comment on my profile
( ) someone remixes my project
( ) someone invites me to curate a studio
( ) there is new activity in a studio I curate/follow
(√) there is a new post on a discussion I follow (forum)
(√) someone follows me
Note: You will still receive all of the messages but it will only notify you about the ones you have selected.
To take it one step further it would also be great to be able to search my inbox for messages.
For example: if I'm having a conversation with “Scratchman” I could simply search my inbox for “Scratchman” to get instant access to all messages he sent me. This would really facilitate when having a conversation with a specific user.
By enabling search it would also be easier to get quick access to a specific kind of message.
Say, you want to view all new comments on your profile. Simply search “profile” and all messages including the word “profile” will be filtered out and displayed to you. Search for “follow” to see all your new followers, “Red Ball 3” or “G-force” to see everything that is happening on that specific project etc. This will also make it super-easy to find a specific message posted a while ago. Simply search for e.g. “It would be nice to collab with you sometime” and you can get right to that message and reply whenever you want, instead of having to scroll around in your inbox trying to find a comment posted a month ago.
Please let me and the Scratch Team know if you support this idea!
Thank You and Scratch On!

Trueawesome userscript which accomplishes just thisRight, but that only works on computers where you have installed the user script. And on a phone or tablet you can't install it at all. That's why it would be much more convenient if it was built into Scratch. pulljosh wrote an

I definitely support. I often get way too many messages I can't even seem to keep up with half of them. Personally, I would probably want to get a message when somebody:
(√) loves my project
( ) favourites my project
(?) posts a comment on my project
(√) posts a comment on my profile
( ) remixes my project
( ) invites me to curate a studio
(√) follows me
Anyway this feature would be very helpful to me too so I'm supporting it.
I also want a message when somebody
(√) unfollows me
(√) unloves my project
(√) unfavourites my project
So that I can shout at them for making a terrible decision. xD jk not really, but it would be nice to know why people are unfollowing you sometimes…
or where all those missing love-its go…
