do some reports also get sent to law enforcement?

for instance, if a shady Scratcher posts how to get drugs online or proselytizes terroristic beliefs do these get sent to (possibly) the FBI or other crime-stopping agencies for review? (that is after they are reviewed by mods)

luckily I haven't seen anything at that magnitude of bad. let's just hope it continues to be that way

As a long time Scratcher, I have found new meaning to the name “Scratch”: for me, it means to “scratch that itch”, to come back again and again to realize new ideas in this toy language, even when I'm capable of creating my projects in real programming languages years later. It's a friend that helped me to pursue programming and get me to enjoy its fruit. I'm certain many others who have walked this path as well have grown fond of its importance in their life.

It would be up to the ST's judgement. And most people who would do this would be spambots.

I would guess no.

I doubt it ever happened before though so that is probably the reason why.

I just remembered. I did see a spambot posting links to fake passports and counterfeited currency once (but the text was in French - I ran it through Google Translate). Big trouble with the law. I don't know if the ST took any legal action or not. They might have just banned the bot, and possibly its IP.

It's definitely a possibility. They probably don't bother with most things, but being mean on someone's first project can definitely end you up with some jail time if you're not careful…

Hmm… I think only if it really needs the law enforcement's attention. But reports for inappropriate things such as mean comments, swearing aren't sent - the Scratch Team can handle that situation alone.

I guess if they were being serious, then maybe. It would be hard to tell if they're just trolling or not though.

Yes, but whether or not a report requires for the Scratch Team to notify law enforcement depends on the case involved. There have been only three cases that has ever really required this in the entire history of doing reports. The other couple million reports that we've resolved over the years we're resolved directly with the Scratcher, or with an adult speaking on the Scratcher's behalf for the more trickier cases.

I'm pretty sure there's a legal obligation to (although that may just apply to schools?) for things such as posting where to get illegal drugs and the like.
