I believe it’s .wav because that’s the sound file Scratch uses. I don’t think uploading an mp4 is possible unless if you separate the images and the sound into different files and upload those. Also don’t spam. It clutters threads and people like you may not be able to get answers because the thread gets derailed.

I think it's wav because you possibly use an apple device. I use a mac and it exports as wav to me. besides, this isn't a bad thing. wav files and mp3 files can be used interchangeably, and wav is actually better sound quality than mp3(listen to most projects with headphones and you'll see exactly what I mean).
also mp4 files are video files, not audio. I have seen a few rare cases where an mp4 file played only audio but otherwise I think you meant mp3. but again, wav is superior, so you have absolutely nothing to worry about

(and for your information, windows can perfectly fine play wav)

Also, .wav is also used by scratch on windows, too.

huh, interesting.
anyway my point still stands wav is better than mp3 due to it being a lossless format

I would counter argue that mp3 is better because the file size is a lot smaller. I always convert my sound files to MP3 before importing to scratch, it makes projects load faster and less likely to crash. The quality drop is negligible to my ears.

try using headphones and you'll see exactly what I mean-
besides, even with higher file size, you can split it up into separate sound files. I don't see how it would be much of a problem anyway. you can't argue with high er sound quality

It's not of higher quality. MP3s are still CD quality and assuming you aren't compressing them to hell and back, the differences are so minute that the human ear cannot pick them up.

again, USE HEADPHONES. I do sort of agree with you, mp3 files aren't always bad quality, and there are mp3 files which are very high quality, but most of the time, since wav is lossless(and uncompressed), It's most likely better quality.

idk what to say now

I do use headphones, and I work with audio a lot. WAV files are simply too wasteful. There are lots of other lossless file formats magnitudes smaller which accomplish the same thing, such as OGG.
