I believe it’s .wav because that’s the sound file Scratch uses. I don’t think uploading an mp4 is possible unless if you separate the images and the sound into different files and upload those. Also don’t spam. It clutters threads and people like you may not be able to get answers because the thread gets derailed.

I use a mac and it exports as wav to me. besides, this isn't a bad thing. wav files and mp3 files can be used interchangeably, and wav is actually better sound quality than mp3(listen to most projects with headphones and you'll see exactly what I mean).
also mp4 files are video files, not audio. I have seen a few rare cases where an mp4 file played only audio but otherwise I think you meant mp3. but again, wav is superior, so you have absolutely nothing to worry about

It's not of higher quality. MP3s are still CD quality and assuming you aren't compressing them to hell and back, the differences are so minute that the human ear cannot pick them up.

I do use headphones, and I work with audio a lot. WAV files are simply too wasteful. There are lots of other lossless file formats magnitudes smaller which accomplish the same thing, such as OGG.
