I find this really similar to the z-index in HTML.
Support because you can manage layers better by this and not edit every “go to layer” when you add a new sprite.

I guess negative layer numbers should also exist because if you made a sprite at the bottom layer, you want to add a new sprite under that one.

At last, to confirm, is the lower the layer number is, the deeper it is in the layer hierarchy?

This a good idea … it is like moving a sprite down layer many times at once. however negative layer numbers can be confusing. perhaps a
layernumber
can be helpful? then, you can simply put a sprite behind all other by
gobacklayernumberlayers

I'm not sure what's meaning this. the layer hierarchy is, I think, will be like the costume list in the costume editor. layer one is at a top, and you can see the sprite that it is in it. from here, can create empty layers and move layer. however, if a sprite is “layer one” then it is displayed behind a “layer two” sprite on the Stage.

Do you think that adding empty layers could possible break a project?
