if skulls are too scary, why do so many children have them?I think they're just finding a reason to no support it
I've seen very useful projects about the human body where there was a skull (it was part of a skeleton) and they were completely appropriate projects!

Support, skulls are funny and they are very versatile in conversation.
Besides if the skull is too “scary” or “inappropriate” for children why is there a skeleton sprite in the sprite library?
edit: scratch deleted the other half of my message when i included a skull emoji

Good point. It's impossible to create a site where nobody gets scared of everything on the web pages. Scratch's main focus to make children browse Scratch safely is only based on stereotypes and assumptions of how kids will behave and be scared of (they stereotype kids as overly sensitive so that's why the filters are strict), but every kid is scared of different things. Such as this:I am not scared of skulls at all from the very start(7 year from when I remember) but am a lot scared by dogs spiders and insect bugs as I have their fear snd phobias. I am 12 now. My friend is 13 and she is scared by skulls that much that she won't sleep for days even of a cartoon but is not at all scared by the things I am so you cannot define a agr to be scared everyone get scared by different things and lives for a different period of time.I've seen jack'o'lanterns scarier than a idealized skull, I think you're being incredibly disrespectful to young people if you think they'll be scared of that. The same argument could be made against the ESRB, so many good games rated M, however kids play them. Same with FNaF. I’m fairly sure that that mentality could be applied here, it would be disrespectful to a kid who isn’t afraid of jumpscares. There are plenty of kids who are afraid of the skull emoji. I’m 15 and know I’m quite unsettled by it.
Additionally, there’s no Jack-o-Lantern emoji on Scratch, nor skull. Additionally:]If it’s something that could scare children, particularly kids under the age of 8, than its no support, as there are a lot of younger users on Scratch.Spiders can cause a lot of fear in younger audiences, and they’re only partially as fear inducing compared to skulls. Additionally, the above quote includes 3 year olds.
And, finally, anything can scare anyone. I’m scared of fishing and anything that has to do with it. However, a cartoony, unrealistic/under detailed one is generally not as bad. Same thought process here. A realistic skull can cause fear, and there’s plenty of medians of entertainment that are aimed at younger audiences, but can cause fear. Something like the Skeleton Dances skeletons, or CN ones would be much less likely to cause fear.
Kyrofelonoshophobia is the fear of cartoon characters. It is almost exclusively experienced by young children. The fear is often triggered due to unique appearance of cartoons. Sufferers often have bad dreams about getting attacked by some cartoon characters, especially by villains.I'm not sure if it's a common fear or not, but many people on Scratch share their favorite cartoon characters and draw fan art of them. By the logic of preventing anything that can make someone scared, Scratch could literally ban cartoons.

Oh also, I support because I've seen a lot of users using the copy paste skull emoji or posting :skull: and I know that must mean a lot of users would find it useful

I was referencing those because they're all internet slang from recent years that died and now nobody uses them anymore. Same thing will happen to this emoji soon.

: lol :
to activate it. It's internet slang and it might eventually die but not as far as I can see, besides not every emoji has to be something that will be relevant forever, but we know skull will last us a very long time and maybe as long as Scratch is available

(#152)It :b:eing an emoji doesn't make it immune to dying. Also, laughing is an action, so the emoji represents it. That is its one use and it does not change. ‘Skull’ however, is not an action so its meaning is whatever people want it to be, which can change and the old meaning can die. That's what I mean when I say it will die in a year.(#151)its an emoji, so will people stop using the laughing emoji soon?

(#153)This is one example, it doesn't represent everything. The skull emoji will probably just die along with 99% of the other internet terms and emoji meanings after a few years. Also, you said that emojis don't have to be relevant. The only emoji that's dead is the illuminati one, and that was only added as an april fools prank. I don't think scratch team will implement this emoji as a serious emoji for people to use.I was referencing those because they're all internet slang from recent years that died and now nobody uses them anymore. Anyway, Challenge: find one internet term or emoji meaning coined 3-5 years ago that's still widely used.
Edit: turns out the forums don't like the :b: emoji.

Possible consequence: Scratch gets bad press for having a skull emoji bc even though we've already established that skulls aren't scary many people think they are and those people would complain that they are on a kids website
