Scratch 2.0 and Picoboard

Can anyone help with using Picoboard with the new Scratch 2.0? We can't get it to work. Alternatively, how do we get to old projects created for use with the Picoboard? When they download, the file type is incompatible with 1.4.

Thanks to anyone who can shed light on this for us. (Primary School in Berkshire, UK)

Currently, I don't think Picoboard is usable yet in 2.0, even though the blocks are there. If you can't find the blocks for Picoboard, shift-click the edit menu at the top and there should be something like “sensing blocks”, and when it's selected, the blocks will appear in “More Blocks”.

Also, since all the projects were transferred to the new Flash .sb2 format on the new website, you unfortunately can't download those projects into 1.4. But you can still view them in the 2.0 online editor. I hope I at least clarified something

Scratch 2.0 does support PicoBoards, but there is a security issue that makes it difficult for the browser to “communicate” with the PicoBoard (http://scratch.mit.edu/discuss/post/29457/). It might be better to stick with 1.4 for a while when using the PicoBoard.

It sounds like your downloading a project file from the interface. But that gives you a .sb2 file, which only works with Scratch 2.0.

If a project was made in an older version of Scratch, then the .sb file (which works for Scratch 1.4) is still available. To get to the download link for the .sb file, click on “Share to” underneath the project stage.
